Eh, last year my average monthly gas expense was around $80-90. So far this year it's been in the $130-140 range every month, and I'm actually driving less because of it. Also, on the subject of buying better cars, not everyone has the money for that. My car is having transmission problems so I've been looking to replace…

Tashard Choice, actually.

I don't ordinarily watch football, but I happened to be at my parents' yesterday and caught the end of the Dallas v. Kansas City game. Dallas made a pretty good play during overtime and the announcers mentioned the guy's name, which sounded awfully familiar. So when I got home I looked him up and sure enough, I knew the…

From the actual court documents. Also, from the Mayo Clinic.

This is really the most misleading part of this story when what they really mean is that he has a 90% chance of surviving five more years if he completes the treatment. Then you have to ask yourself is it worth it to extend life at the cost of quality of life.

Looks kind of like Baubo to me.

This is too much fun. First try This one too last one I promise one more and one more

While I, for the most part, agree with what you've said, I do have one caveat. I would posit that the term itself 'irreducible complexity' could merely mean that a concept or thing can not be understood by reducing it to its component parts, or by having its component parts reduced to their component parts ad infinatum,…

Living the human trip. Reaching for peak experiences. Yes, everyone comes to the point where life is inherently meaningless. But then, maybe, come to the point where you realize you're capable of creating your own meaning, realize that freedom and the responsibility that goes with it. Learn not to fear that freedom. Learn…

So you'd rather blame the victim for being a woman? Furthermore, this girl isn't on trial here, no matter how much you try and make it. While I understand where you're coming from and what you're trying to say, why is the immediate reaction to an accusation of rape that it can't be true until someone is proven guilty? Does…

While I didn't watch the video, nowhere in the article does it say that there are classes available about male prostitution and oral sex, merely that these professors have done/ are doing research in areas related to male prostitution and oral sex. I don't see what the big deal is. Whoever this Hill person is seems to be…

Yeah, that study doesn't appear to have been very well designed. Any study with less than a couple hundred people involved is suspect. And even that is something of a stretch. A more acceptable number would be between one and two thousand. Still, though, it's been long standing theory that the most vocal homophobes are…

I second Order of the Stick and Dinosaur Comics, but would also like to add http://www.countyoursheep.com/

the sad thing is, somebody somewhere else will think this was a good idea

Given that there are also laws (at least in some places) against having sex with a human corpse, I don't see why someone would think a dead animal is no longer an animal. If he tried calling a dead human no longer a human I'm sure someone would get up in his face about it.

It's not a bad story, although it feels unfinished. Your plot twist is a bit sudden and harsh, which isn't always a good thing. However, if that's what you were going for you pulled it off well. I don't mean to be too nitpicky, either, but the condition that you've described isn't so much a coping mechanism as it seems to…

oops. sorry for the confusing wording, there. I'm a guy. I just read somewhere that they're thinking of giving it to guys as well to prevent them from being carriers of hpv. But since they haven't tested it on guys yet (to my knowledge) it'd take quite a while before they'd do that.
-
The thing I don't like about the hpv vaccine is that it's only been tested on 11,000 women between those age ranges over the last five or so years. Given that there were only about 3000 deaths from cervical cancer last year, what's the chances of any one group of 11,000 women getting cancer over five years? I just feel it…

I'll take a stab at this. My most ultimate goal is to write all of my books and get them published with a modicum of popularity (enough to live off the royalties would be cool, although I'm not expecting that much). The why is more difficult to put into words. Creativity is the purpose of life, and the stories satisfy a…

I wouldn't go so far as to say ruin, but in a large number of cases it does lead to self destructive behaviors and post traumatic stress disorder. If you're interested, go find and read a book titled Lucky, by Alice Sebold. Good book, but very graphic.

What really gets me about this story is why is she doing 45 years in prison? Yeah she set a fire that killed two people. Child molesters and rapists get what, 8-25 years, if they're found guilty. It's probably the hardest conviction to make. I sat on a jury for a rape trial last year and I was just shocked by how much…

Being near Atlanta, and this being the first I've heard of this, the only thing I have to say is that people have attempted suicide for less. The entire essence of suicidal ideation is that the person goes through a sort of tunnel vision wherein there is no other solution. Suicide is simply negative energy/ emotion turned…
