  • Don't burn down the library.
  • I tried playing sports in middle school. It was a disaster. As such, I don't play or follow sports... I really don't understand the appeal.

  • Is there something up with the server? I'm getting timed out. Not sure if it's me or not.
  • Yay! Unfortunately, though, now that v 1.4 is out, my FPS-increasing mods have stopped working. And it seems the update also hasn't done anything to solve my mysterious desktop lag issue. So I'll be away until my mods can get updated.
  • Ooh, v 1.4 is out! Mario, says the server is outdated... I'm guessing that just means you have to apply the new patch.
  • EDIT: Sadness. We'll just have to rebuild.
  • That IS awesome! I can't even imagine not being able to lead the lifestyle I wanted for physical reasons.
  • Well, I'm not the only one that can place books, and like I said, I was initially a little wary of others putting books down just because they're so permanent. I hope I didn't give the impression of being control-hungry with this project. =( EDIT: Dude, sweet. I just took a look. I love it.
  • I could still see stacks in the main library lower level, but I do also really like the idea of a separate cobblestone area for "forbidden books". Also, the walls of the library are completely filled in and I've got done what I want to get done, so, as it says on the sign above the library, feel free to redecorate! And a…
  • Library status: I've finished laying out the top balcony level, so decorating can begin! All the stone hollows in the walls are designated for bookcases, but beyond that, feel free to put furniture, decorations, whatever! I'm working on the lower level right now. I've got the outline of the floor down, though in most…
  • No no, no need to apologize. Like I said, I'm REALLY happy with the new layout, and part of the fun of this game is the addition of unexpected input from outside sources! It's just that bookcases are so permanent (and I'm not sure why they decided to make bookcases that way and other complex constructions movable) and so…
  • I saw the work people did on the library... much appreciated! I didn't even know there were pictures, and I like the bookshelf-to-non-bookshelf setup that was placed better than my planned one. But I've got quite a bit more to go as far as excavation and layout, so if it's okay with everyone here, I'd ask that bookshelves…
  • Okay, so after getting Megan's laptop to run the game pretty well on multiplayer, I... binged a bit today. You'll all probably notice a few changes, most obvious being the large sugar cane field in front of the base and the huge room Azrodal, Liz, and I have been excavating in the basement. Just so you all know, this room…
  • So what's our avatar gonna be? I spent all of highschool conforming to nonconformity... I think I'll conform this time.
  • Unfortunately, my comp doesn't have a wireless card, and I don't own an adapter. So... I'm just gonna have to wait this one out.
  • Nope, desktop.
  • It's not an issue of processing power since the actual game itself runs fine. Even in multiplayer I can run around, jump, hit blocks, and open doors just fine... my framerate is pretty good most of the time. I just can't interact with stuff and the world doesn't update properly. Apparently, though, this is a very unusual…
  • Well, I tried connecting my PC directly to my modem instead of going through my router, but it wouldn't immediately work. It recognized that it was connected, but it was "local area connection", limited or no connectivity. I feel like before I've had to wait a bit before it started, but I wonder if that might be the…
  • Oh, I also reinstalled Java earlier this morning.
  • Okay, I call upon the collective wisdom of the OB to see if you all can help me. I like this game a lot and I want to play with others, but my minecraft connection still sucks. Here's the symptoms: The world doesn't spawn immediately, or if it does, only a small portion of the world spawns and the rest is empty sky. In…
  • Most of the time I do respawn on the map, but then I still have about a 30 second delay when destroying or placing blocks.
  • Okay, bandwidth tests are in the range of 15-20 Mbps download, 1 Mbps upload. Searching the minecraft forums reveals a few people who are having this same issue: the person hosting the server runs it just fine but connecting people are having the same symptoms as me. It may be something as recent as today, which could…
  • I tried logging into some other random server I found and I'm having the same issue there, so it must be something on my end. I've poked around a bit but haven't really found any solutions thus far. I'll have to keep working on it.
  • I'm going to do single player for a bit until I get the hang of it, then I'll join you. I had to look up how to craft a pickaxe, but now that I understand how one thing is made I'm going to try and figure out some other stuff. I'm pretty amazed at how far advanced beta is from classic. EDIT: I jumped on the server and....…
  • I just bought it, so I'm game. I'm a noob though, so I'll need some guidance. Much kudos to Bruce for helping me through the initial stages.
  • ..... dammit, now I want this game even more. Nether? Portals? This is actually something of a world in its beta form, isn't it?
  • So this guy either had to hack it to give himself infinite resources or he had to collect all that crap? What about glowstone? I heard someone talking about that.
  • Another question, this time about processors. My computer is quite old. I've updated most everything except the hard drive and the processor. My processor runs at (puts out? what's the correct verb here?) 2.4 Ghz. Now, yesterday, I talked to a guy who had just hand-built a powerful comp. 4x my memory, probably 20x my hard…
  • I started playing with the free version of Minecraft... and I want more!! So, I have a few questions that hopefully you all can answer. What I like about Minecraft is the ability to build whatever you want. Obviously the free version falls short of what I want to do, especially after watching this video:…
