I'm late to the party but I finally watched Dr. Horrible! I couldn't stream it from way over here, and the iTunes store was blocked for a while around the Olympics cause someone sang one song about freeing Tibet. Yay communism. Then I just kinda forgot about it.
But I finally bought it on iTunes and watched it today! Yay...?
Now is probably a good time to mention that the DVD is available for preorder. Most awesome-sounding special feature: "Commentary: The Musical"! I bought this on iTunes, but I'm definitely gonna grab the fancy DVD edition.
Almost forgot to mention: I got the DVD (and picked up a second one as a Christmas gift for my Joss Whedon fanatic sister), and it's slick as all hell! Commentary: The Musical is hilarious, and the fan-submitted Evil League of Evil videos were not as cringe-inducing as I had presumed they would be! Some were even a little bit funny (of course, the ones with their own songs were the best of the bunch).
Well he was a villain during the whole production, he just got E.L.E. admittance in the end.
Weird that you should post about it just now, I just finished watching it again a few minutes ago. Probably gonna watch Commentary! The Musical later tonight.
He really seems to sink down in the second half of the whole show, though. In the first bit he just seemed like a doofy scientist that wanted a girl and wanted to hang out with the cool kids. Not really evil, just pathetic.
But he was pulling heists! He stole gold bars and wonderflonium!
:objection:
He wasn't killing people. In fact, he tried NOT to kill people. He was merely being a bit of a nuisance in comparison to what he becomes. The first episode was just a funny little geeky scientist thing, whereas the last episode was actually kinda dark.
He was trying to upset the status quo, and aspired to be more like Bad Horse! Maybe his missions tended to fail more than succeed, but he was certainly doing his damndest to be all villainy, and that's what counts in the end.
Totally a classic tragedy! What is "evil" anyway? I don't think he ever said his aspirations were evil. He just wanted to upset the status quo, because the status is NOT quo. The man is only trying to do what he thinks is right, people!
At least he's fighting for something he believes in... =]
Dr. Horrible won a frickin' Emmy today! The category was "Short-Form Live Action Entertainment Special Class Program". Congratulations to the entire Dr. Horrible team for a job well done!
He's finished up to act 2, and has the soundtrack available for download. It includes previously unseen things from the original musical (such as Hammer throwing a car at Billy), and all the important bits. Including this attached gem!

I use strong language when it's warranted, and the Dr. Horrible soundtrack is all kinds of warranted.

Just watched it
the ending credits are playing right now. That was intense. He became a villain, though...

I have a problem, I know.
