I had a headache and have been away from my computer. It seems I've missed something.
In any case, Bl. BELT rocks the house, but RedMAGE has enough class to take on the world all by himself.
A squad of the black belts is the way to go if you wish to be nigh unstoppable in the late game, but the solo Red is where it's at if you're feelin' saucy.
white mage is a chick, even in the game.
Well, I know it isn't closed yet, but considereing the number of active posters we have, i ghues it's gonna be 4 fighters. Thanks, everybody.
When you look back at old games, they either a) have honest to goodness life to them and survive through the ages, or b) were only good because of the times. Nostalgia plays a big part of this.
ex. a) Super Mario 3. This is always fun to play, and I think a lot of people will agree on this.
ex. b) Anticipation. I think I did like this as a child, but I can't play it anymore. If I play it with anyone it's only to marvel at how bad it is.
Final Fantasies are an interesting sort. Some people quietly hand Square-Enix all of their money whenever they can to buy remakes of remakes of ports of old games. Others simply hate games that are prefixed "Final Fantasy".
I for one believe it stands the test of time, because I never played it as a kid. I first played it a few years ago, back in Summer of 04 I believe. And I played the original Nintendo version. And I thought it was really fun. Yes, the battle system was slow and clunky, but I liked how customizable it was at the beginning of the game. And the game had replayability, because you could try different party combinations, or you could do the ultimate challenge of four White Mages.
But seriously, the hating has to stop. It's dividing us apart, and it's pointless because we're all gamers. We need to set aside our hate, and redirect it towards Madden games. Because those ass hats who beat us up, teased us, and generally made us feel bad for liking video games as kids are playing those games now, and they need to get the hell out of our hobby.
GoldenEye still rocks. It's a great party game with a lot of fun customization of goals and weaponry choices. I didn't actually care much about the single-player campaign, but multiplayer was loads of fun.
Final Fantasy I was always boring. It's really hard to stick with an RPG that doesn't have a compelling story. This is not to say that all games need a good story, but the level-up grind without interesting things happening along the way is exceedingly boring and pointless. I refuse to get into modern MMORPGs for much the same reason; a persistent world with no game ending usually makes the small quest stories irrelevant. The only FF games I've gotten into have been offshoots from the numbered series, since they seem to get half-decent writers involved and actually make me want to kill another goblin to see what's next.
It's impossible for me to say if Goldeneye is in a or b, because I loved it as a kid.
I would think that it leans towards a, because of its emphasis on stealth and not shooting everything that moves. And the Cradle mission is just plain fun no matter how many times you play it.

Edit: Or am I the only person here who's favorite color is red and likes mages?

I can't choose one over the other.

nah, seriously, I know what you mena. Boy has more new theads than Mario.
I don't hate you, Adam, you just don't like the fact that I tell it like it is
And I contest your statement that White Mage was female.
If you say that's a female, then I say, "That's a man, baby!"
Though I think that they did turn White Mage into a female in later remakes.

I haven't played Goldeneye in quite a while. I wonder how it would hold up for me.
Not to my knowledge, anyway.

And, of course, there's Dr. Doak.
