Merry Christmas Eve III!

edited July 18 in Events
Once More, it falls on me to wish the denizens of the Forum a Very Merry Christmas one day before the day proper.

Every year, I presume that no one will be sad enough to post on the Belt on Christmas Day, and every year I am proven wrong!

So don't let me down, Belters. Flaunt your Christmas Nerdiness. Wear a Cthulhu T-Shirt or some shit, I don't know, I'm not a nerd, hence me always making this thread a day early.

Hear Hear! Christmas is always at my house and the Orange Belt is just a click away. Stealing a 5-minute break from the family now and then isn't so bad.

When I'm at home I usually use the computer at night before bed. Not tonight because there'll be people sleeping in my room, but tomorrow for sure. It's not about nerdiness, it's about the computer being in my bedroom and me not being tired yet.

Merry Christmas Eve! I have no doubt I will post in this tomorrow :)

It's Christmas Day here already. I have to fucking work today. I'll be here.

I had to work today and I have to work again Friday. But then, I have a job. I am employed and at a job I enjoy no less. Many people can't say as much.

My car decided it didn't want to function any longer last night. But then, it died out as gracefully as a car can die, and it's already repaired if you can believe that. My family to the rescue again!

It's been pretty cold this month overall, and there has been a lot of snow making the roads difficult. But then, it's gotten a little warmer, and we have snow! Plenty of it and it's very neat. It seems like years since we had snow like this.

Thanksgiving had been a bit dull with no fire and all, but the makings of the big fire are still there. It's like a party silently waiting to happen!

There are others close to me who have been dealing with far worse this past month. Their misfortune weighs on me, yet I can feel glad that my own troubles are but water under the bridge. Well, maybe more like ice under the bridge, but the point stands.

I'm going to kick back and truly enjoy my holiday and I wish the lot of you good tidings. Unlike Bruce I will freely admit that I AM a nerd and may poke in here, but I make no promises.

Well, you bring up a good point, at least I have a job.

Still, when I woke up this morning under several warm blankets in a frigid cold room, I honestly had no interest in getting out.

Anyway, Merry Christmas from the future!

Merry Christmas! I'm in the desert visiting family, so the computer is about the most interesting thing we got here.

Merry Christmas everyone. I don't really have to dodge relatives to come on here like some of you, we're pretty much down to immediate family in the area.

Same, except my aunt and uncle came over last night :) So I'm free all day. Honestly, it's just like every other day here, except that I can't go over to anyone's house since THEY'RE all busy with family, haha. Nice slow day for me.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Wish me luck please! I know we haven't been as close this year as we have been in years past - but I love you all regardless! =D

Wow. Can we ask what you're going to do in Iraq, or is that classified or something?

I'm the administrator for the deployed network segments - Non-Secure IP Routing Network and Secret IP Routing Networks - on SOCOMs compound in our Area of Responsibility. That means I'm the one who gets in trouble when generals can't get their e-mail. Merry Christmas!

Also I got a hippopotamus for Christmas. What did you guys get?

I got a copy of the Mabinogion, eleven stories from medieval Welsh mauscripts about pre-Christian Celtic mythology. Some of the stories are earlier versions of Arthurian legends. I also got DDRMAX2, because Supernova 2 has too many crap songs.

Care to elaborate on the hippopotamus?

I got a 1gb iPod Shuffle! It is AWESOME!!!

Grats on finding such an old DDR version. Max2 is my personal favorite, but people generally prefer Max or Extreme 2.

My presents have yet to arrive from the US! The postal service is slow.

Or who knows, maybe my parents mailed me nothing because they thought it would be funny.

I got Wall E on DVD and some Rock Band songs. Also my mom got me Hotel Dusk for the DS which I was surprised at. Probably gonna play it in the car ride home.

I gave my friends, among other things, Dr. Horrible on DVD and the lolcats book.

This day is historically England's name for St. Stephen's Day. Saint Stephen was the first Christian martyr, being stoned to death in Jerusalem around A.D. 34-35. St. Stephen's Day is usually celebrated on December 26, which is a public holiday in some countries or areas in Europe (UK, Germany, Alsace, northern part of Lorraine, Catalonia) and around the world with predominantly Christian populations.

He got boxed to death. But with rocks.

    I got a shovel and a flashlight.

    I didn't get shit.
    ...
Instead I got 3 boxes of cereal, some windshield wiper blades, and $100.

The cereal was well timed. I was running low. The wiper blades were useless as I had replaced them not long ago, but whatever. This from my sister who was actually there when I purchased those replacements too.

The money will go toward a much needed shopping trip that will be the result of me trying to avoid shopping for most of the year. I have a tendency to hoard my earnings like a dragon perched atop so much gold that it would never spend.

...A shovel would be pretty useful with all the snow.
