Worst Video Games Ever

edited June 2009 in Games
This thread is for talking about the worst video games ever. There are a ton of them. Most of them are licensed video games. Now those are just awful, but there some terrible video games that are just so terrible, they shouldn't even exist in the first place. Post away.

LA Rush. This game threw the entire Rush series out the window.

-Moved from Nintendo consoles to Sony.
-Was set in Los Angeles like every other game released that year.
-Used the same 'street racing' theme as every other game released that year.
-Used licensed cars (this part's not bad, there were some nice ones).
-Used licensed music (this part's terrible).
-Got rid of hidden collectibles, which were a major aspect of the replay value in previous games.
-Tried to add a story, and it was pretty bad.
-Completely sold out to MTV with music and tie-ins.
-In previous games, cars were completely customizable in color and accessories. In this one, the only option is to "Pimp My Ride", a process you have no control over and usually winds up turning ugly.
    -Attempted to be 'gangster'.
-Lacked the series' trademark super-low gravity and wacky shortcuts.

This game may have been tolerable if it didn't have 'Rush' in the name, because it has nothing at all in common with its predecessors.

Monkey Island 4, it tarnished a series :(

I hold to the theory that Guybrush is still under Dinky Island and both Curse and Escape are elaborate illusions created by LeChuck for purposes unknown.

Pretty much any Superman game. ESPECIALLY Superman 64. It had to be said.

Hey, Curse of Monkey Island was actually good though!

Those are all the same game.

If you've ever worked in a used game store, you know the burden of having eleventy billion copies of previous years' versions. They're different games in that regard.

Oh, I'd also like to throw out Samurai Legend Musashi. Brave Fencer Musashi was great fun, and then I played the sequel.... icky.

That Legend of Mana game I have for DS. Repetative, but with no cool reward.
  • edited June 2009
Yes, I think I played that too. Almost beat it, then got REALLY fucking bored. I traded it in at Gamestop.... and I NEVER do that.

Okay... I don't think you read the title of this thread right Agentcel. I can agree with zelda 2 and sonic adventure 2, But how dare you say Ocarina of Time, Halo 2, Super Mario Land, Etc are the worst video games ever made! They're the best ones ever made!

I personally hated the Digimon games for PS1. I also really disliked that Tales of Symphonia for GCN, but it might just be me.

Ohh!! Magna Carta: Tears of Blood SUCKED MY FUCKING ASS. It was TERRIBLE. HORRIBLE. A waste of fucking time and money for both me and the developers. UGH. What a piece of shit. I'll often come across RPGs that are boring, but to make one that TOTALLY SUCKS BALLS is a feat.

I really liked that game. Yeah, it had all the staple rpg clichés of elves and dwarves and such, but I thought the story had some good surprises in it after the slow start. The real time combat was great, because with a lot of rpgs I end up just giving people commands and switching over to a show for a couple of minutes while everyone attacks each other.

I was waiting for you to bring that up! You forced yourself to play that for a while.

Also, I submit that Xenosaga 2 was absolutely terrible. Broken battle system, and in the hour or so of story time between Xenosaga 1 and 2 everyone loses all their items, money, levels, etc. Terrible.

    That is all.

I've never really played that many bad games.
Glover was so-so in my opinion, but my only comparisons are some of the best video games of all time, like OoT and SSB. I don't want to talk about Glover, we talked about that here.
I also bought Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars off virtual console and I personally found the game a little boring and unenjoyable.

I would love to be able to refute you totally, Voltage, but all I can say is that I probably have nostalgia goggles on when remembering that game. I LOVED it as a kid.... I was SO FUCKING EXCITED when it came out, and SO FUCKING HAPPY all the way through. But I was 11 when it came out, and games were different back then... most people on this forum, I think, have a game they don't enjoy that many others enjoy, and it just happens to be an older game that we played in our childhood...

Adventure sucked. It has no plot at all, and basic game mechanics required spading. Eg. You are in a maze of twisty passages, all alike.

Most of you did refute me last time I said I didn't like Glover. I understand. Again, I already gave a link to the time I originally said I didn't like it.

The worst video games I know of are sonic games and Zelda 2. All sonic games mainly get bad reviews. In other words, sonic games suck. Zelda 2 was pretty bad mainly cause of its side scrolling and absurd difficulty. It did have a few saving graces though.
  • edited June 2009
Well, Pickle, Zelda 2 was just different. I personally haven't played much of it, but you got to understand that back then games actually were hard, unlike now.

    I miss back then.
