The Urban Dead Thread, Ned Ted Fred

I've still been playin at urbandead. My scientist now has a revival syringe and I believe the capacity to use it. I also have an axe and a gps. Although the axe remains unused.

My firefighter character in Urban Dead (Captain Combustible) has been doing fairly well, having recently reached level 3, although he's now trapped in a building with a zombie and has only 1 AP. Hopefully he'll survive the night.

My other character, a NecroTech Lab Assistant named Doctor Improbable, is still stuck on level 1, but it relatively safe for the time being, alone inside a barricaded building with full HP.

Sucks to be me then. All my guys, except for my zombie, are dead.

XoLore is capable of reviving someone.
    I've been in Molebank.

Doctor Improbable is in Judgewood and might need a revive soon, since he's sharing a safehouse with a zombie and another Level 1 Lab Assistant. I'll keep you posted on whether or not I survive.

EDIT: Did one of is found this group?

Once the For SCIENCE! site goes up I'll try and help get stuff organised for Gunbound (should be soon, all the graphic work is done).

Don't know who made a Survivors for SCIENCE! group on Urban Dead, but it's good to know that there are people out there that think like us. Or me at least.

Deffinately something worth knowing in an undead world.

Well I wandered El Meat Slab over to Molebank. Whereabout are you, Xo?

My scientist Serephel revives in Yagoton.

My firemen Terulen wanders around. He kills stuff. Dead stuff. He kills dead stuff deader.

I had been in St. Elizabeths hospital, but due to lack of attention recently woke up surrounded by 26 zombies. There were as many outside as well. I think you can guess what happened.

I've been roaming north, but not guetting far all zombified.

Is anyone going to be participating in the attack and/or defence of Caiger Mall? None of my guys have Free Running yet, so I can't help too much until I level, but hopefully I'll be able to get involved before it's over.

    Blarg!

My firemen was one AP short of entering a building, since everything is freakin extremely heavily barricaded in my area. That building was only strongly, so I could enter, but I was a point short.

So, I waited half an hour.

I was killed. I was killed like five minutes after logging off to wait for another AP.

Yeah, I lost my fireman because the internet died when I was trekking through a suburb.

    That really sucked.

Let's do this shit! Ryan and I have decided that this is cool again, so we're back in the game. I have created a new character. A fireman by the name of LivelyMcNeverDie. Everyone! Come join us.

EDIT: I found my old character, NumbbyMcNumbNuts. Anyone able to revive this guy so he can get some human skills?
    NumbbyMcNumbNuts.jpg
    That's a level 21 zombie right there.

My Lv. 17 Scientist is dead, and I'm trying to get him a revive in Yagoton. He also goes by Serephel.

I recently made a zombie named Mr Gobbles, and I may make another human too just for fun.

I made a NecroTech Lab Assistant yesterday. I am currently bunkered down in a VSB Police Department in the suburb Pashenton with about 20 or so other people. Resting up so I can get to a hospital and hopefully find some extra First Aid Kits.

Any tips on what skill(s) my Lab Assistant should take when/if he levels up?
  • edited August 2009
Basically, you want Free Running and some way of getting XP. Myself, I tend to prefer a combination of Free Running and Diagnosis for my starting characters, which'll let them level up by handing out First Aid Kits. I think Lab Assistants get the ability to use DNA extractors by default, so that can also be a good way of getting your first couple of levels.

Just make sure you get Free Running first, though, as it's absolutely essential. Once you've got it and an XP-gaining skill I'd recommend you pick up Construction, as building barricades is just about the most important thing a survivor can do. You should also save up some XP to get Lurching Gait and Ankle Grab the next time you're zombiefied.

How did I forget about this game? I think I only ever got to level 9, not that I can remember my character. Cyborg Jesus is now in the Roachtown fire department.

That's where LivelyMcNeverDie is. Unfortunately, the game says I've accessed the website 160 times today, so I have to wait to play again. It counts every page load. So if you keep clicking from skill tree to back to city you'll eat up your turns.

To get around the website access limit, go to www.hidetheweb.net and play through there.

Edit: So Serephel got revived, and I apparently was on a quest to revive the entire goddamn town. I have 39 revivification syringes in my inventory. Along with other stuff I was 112% encumbered.
  • edited August 2009
Well after a while of searching around my area almost all of the resource buildings are EHB and I am unable to enter any of the hospitals in the area, I placed my guy in a quite strongly barricaded house (zombies out side, so this may be his last night). I decided to make a zombie, I have killed someone already!:D
  • edited August 2009
Did revivification syringes always require 10AP to use? It's very frustrating, that's several hours' worth of AP right there.
  • edited August 2009
I don't think they always did, but the change was a few years back. For a while the quickest way to get a zombie out of a building was to revive it then dump the body, rather than killing it. I guess the developer thought that was contrary to the spirit of the game.
  • edited August 2009
Maybe that's why I have over 30 syringes still in my inventory. This guy sat idle for maybe 2 or 3 years, so I honestly don't remember a lot. I know I was part of the Caiger Mall attacks a few years back. I'd go into an area with hundreds of zombies and quickly DNA extract as many as I could, revive a bunch, and get back in the mall before I got mauled to death.

Hooray, reading through here I remembered that I had another character named Terulen. He's a lev. 37 Civilian. I knew I had someone stronger. He's loaded with guns at the moment. I must have been busy.

Attacking outdoor zombies is pretty stupid. They'll just get up again with full HP and you've wasted AP that could've been spent doing something useful, like barricading or killing indoor zombies. Reviving outdoor zombies is even stupider (unless they want to be revived) since now they'll be able to slip through barricades and kill survivors that way.

Zombies are like spiders. They belong outdoors and should be left alone there; it's when they come inside that they become a problem.

That's why you should be careful with reviving. If you're going to revive for spite like I do, it's best to revive the young zombies, the ones without free running and without ankle grab. Whenever you use the DNA extractor you can see the zombie name and open their profile in another window. Then you can check their skills.

If you revive the relatively young zombies, then they'll have to waste AP as a human standing up, then getting killed, then standing up again.

The really satisfying revives are the ones you know are going to get pissed off about it. I've revived a guy named Zombie Dave a few times now. Knowing that I've made him mad and wasted his AP makes me happy.

Back when I played I spent most of my effort reviving zombies at a reviving point.

NumbbyMcNumbNuts is dead again. He spends one night in the Treweeke Mall and it just happens to be the night that zombies invade and kill everybody.

They didn't kill me! I've got a character by the name of The Guy With The Gun hiding out in The Masters Museum right now. Give me your UID and current location and I'll revivify you.
  • edited September 2009
Yep, they got me too Adam. I saw them break in and I saw your name on the list, but I had 1 or 2 ap at the time. I could do nothing. I was in the police department. I was going to log in an hour later and move to the museum, but I forgot.

Iggy, I could use a revive. My character is Riph, and I'm right outside Pegrum Place Police Department.

http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=1566577 This guy killed me. Let's make him pay. He's also standing in the same area I am.
