My scientist is now level 3! Though I was planning on taking free running as my 3rd skill a zombie broke into the hospital I was hiding out in, killed a few people. I healed up remanding hurt people and then took the construction skill to take the barricade back up normal.

Those zombies are bastards. The best thing to do is to use free running to hide out in a generic building, like a museum. Zombies will frequently take down police stations, hospitals, malls, etc, because people can get supplies from them.

    Mother f-!
Serephel got ganked by another fellow human in Caiger Mall. What a fucker. I'm going to kill him lots of times.

    Edit: Double post sowwies

Report him here. And DI, Numbby has brain rot, I'll just get some more exp as a zombie and then try to get revived later. I have high hopes for LivelyMcNeverDie. I'll get everything except brain rot for him.

Maybe everyone should post their character names and information, so we can add each other to our lists.

    I have a few:
    Terulen - Civilian, Stanbury Village
    Riph - Scientist, Dulston
Serephel - Scientist, Chudleyton/Darvall Heights (Caiger Mall)
    Mr Gobbles - Zombie, Whittenside

Edit: Terulen and Serephel I started long ago when we first started this game a few years ago. Riph and Mr Gobbles are some new characters I started recently.

Iggy, I could use a revive. My character is Riph, and I'm right outside Pegrum Place Police Department.
I'm still going to need your ID # or a link to your profile to revive you.

EDIT: Never mind. It looks like someone already got you.

Check my previous post, I added all my character profile links in each of their names. Add me that way.

Okay, so, I started this game three weeks ago.... at first I didn't like it. You can't play as much as you want to and (big thing) I couldn't DO anything.

But now that I've gotten a skill for each of my characters things are going a tiny bit faster. Now I understand how the game is meant to progress... so I very much look forward to every day when I can do something.

I still think zombies are the most difficult to level at the beginning though... mostly I can only smash at barricades for 1 xp per successful hit unless I get lucky and find a ransacked building with survivors still inside. But once I get memories of life it SHOULD go much faster.

Thank you for reviving this. I like this game.

    DOUBLE POST!!

Is there anyone in the vicinity of Judgewood that could use a FAK on me? I'm currently in the Organ Arms... Ailienor's the name. I'm infected with 6 HP left and no free running yet, so I'm kinda stuck. Everything in this suburb is overcaded, unfortunately, so I can't get into the hospital that's RIGHT NEXT TO ME.
  • edited September 2009
I'm pretty far away from there. Get yourself down to 1hp, wait until you have 50 ap, kill yourself by searching and then kill the survivors with you for exp. Revives are pretty easy to get if you don't have brain rot. And this will get you more exp than you would get in a week trying to stay alive.

sonofabitch some douchebag barricaded the only entry point within 5 fucking blocks. I wasted 20 AP trying to get indoors, only to run out in the middle of the street. I guess I'll die and be a shitty zombie (shitty as in no combat skills) for a while.

Any human players out there that want to join Andrew and me? We are going to meet in Tollyton, at the Woodroffe Mall.

    http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Tollyton

We are still working out our plan of action after that, but we may be heading north into Roftwood to help repair buildings and clear out zeds. Anyone near us and want to join in?
  • edited September 2009
We're both around the mall now. We're going to spend a few days gathering supplies before heading north and seeing what we can do. As of now, my character (Elchaeon) can really only revivify and build barricades, so some extra firepower would be handy.

I'm in. What should I stock up on, NummbyMcNumbNuts can do anything you need. He already has a toobox, too.

Stock up on ammo, and if you've got the time go out and scout Roftwood to the north and Stanbury Village to the NW. We're going to start by bleeding into new areas and then repairing and barricading buildings while eliminating zeds along the way. By getting several buildings repaired and barricaded at once, survivors will have more choices of hiding places while zeds don't know exactly which barricades they should waste all their AP on destroying.

Both areas have malls, and we will be slowly making our way towards them. I know that at least a day or two ago Stanbury Village was practically ruined and overrun, but I don't know about Roftwood. Hence our need for a scout or two.

Well, I think we're going to scope out the place and barricade some buildings first. I think once we know what we're up against we'll start setting up some generators, but that's a long-term goal.

So for now, I'd say focus on firepower. We may need to clear out some zeds to get things stable.

Someone combat revived my zed while he was standing in a mall, but they neglected to get rid of the body. I stood up as human before they had the chance to dump me. I will have to show my thanks by destroying their generator.

Or, I'll wait until I'm almost dead from infection while having full AP, then die in the mall, quickly stand back up as a zed, and kill more people. That also works.

Well, what do you consider to be the ethics of a lifer zombie being revived? Was Mr Gobbles an insane murderer before he was zombified? Or was he made so by his mind breaking upon zombification?

Okay, so now that hidetheweb.net is dead, I can't find another proxy that doesn't totally suck ass. Does anyone know of any good, free proxies?
  • edited October 2009
I can't say I've used proxies for anything before.
  • edited October 2009
Google it and see if you can find anything good. I use Chinese proxies myself, so I doubt they'll be of much help to you. A lot of western proxies are blocked here, so I don't use them anymore.
  • edited October 2009
Oh god Caiger Mall has fallen. There are 47 zeds outside and another 60 inside. That's going to take a while to clear out.

Okay, so we finally have some direction for anyone who wants to join us in our little group foray. Currently the Mayo Row Police Department in Roftwood is ruined with 3 zombies inside. Let's start by securing that PD. I think after we get a few buildings secured it would be fun to try to clear out Hildebrand Mall... the numbers are generally low, probably about 7 or so inside.

Ryan and I have planned to meet at Mayo at 10PM EST on Friday, October 9th (that's two days from now). The more the merrier. I'm going to be combat reviving (since I don't have any weapon skills) and Ryan will be blasting zeds away. Bring your friends!!
  • edited October 2009
Change of plans. Someone else fixed up Mayo and it's now EHB. Hildebrand mall, however, has also been secured but is obviously in a much more precarious situation. To the mall!!
  • edited October 2009
I got to the mall. 3 sections were ruined although still heavily barricaded. Only the SE was open with one zed standing inside. I killed him off, repaired the corner, and got it up to VHB. There are 8-9 zeds still inside, but now they're trapped with no way out. Get in there and kill/revivify them off!

Edit: Roftwood mall doors are back open in the SE. 12 zeds outside, but only two inside the whole mall! I need a revive and am standing at Gall Lane. Andrew or Adam, get in there and help retake the mall!

So I've started PK reporting and I noticed that many people seem to be using UI Addons for this game. I found a few links that you all might be interested in.

This is the Wiki page with a few links. The one I'd recommend to start with is UDtoolbar. It does some really neat stuff... here's a screenshot.

    Screenshot1.jpg

So it gives you graphics for the world, gives you an image inventory, gives you quick links to the revivification tool, the rogues gallery, and city and suburb maps, and (most impressively) makes most options come up in a tooltip menu instead of having 200 buttons on your screen. So when you have that big list of people in a place, you can hover over whoever you want to interact with and choose the option from there.

All my characters are dead right now so I can't see the inventory myself, but it looks pretty cool so far. =D

My first character... he's so low because I spent a while trying to get Hildebrand up and running. Thus, little exp.

My zombie... he's grown the fastest.

My other survivor... at least usually. She's got a case of the deads right now.
