Ebisumaru! How I love Mystical Ninja!

EDIT: HOLY MOTHER OF CHRIST PRINCESS TOMATO MIDDLE RIGHT HAND SIDE
  • edited August 2006
I am noticing a distinct lack of big name characters. I don't see Mario, Link, Samus, or Megaman in this one. Kirby seems to be impersonating Simon Belmont.

...I'm going to go cry tears of joy until Q4 2006. Then I will be laughing all the way to the bank, and into the line for the Wii the day before it comes out.

Why does Pacman have the Tanooki Suit?

Luigi is in the bottom right, in the car with Roll.

OH YES! Peter Pepper!!! Ganon! Windfish! ^_^

I see Mr. Game and Watch being a fireman. And is just me, or is the car Luigi is in look like its from Outrun? That was one of my favorite Master System games.

    ROB has a triforce.

And yet Cut Man, Wily, Proto Man, Beat, Roll, and a Metool are all featured.

The duck hunt dog! OOOH! They'd better include the zapper in the box for this!

And Adventure Island is also included, which is probably one of the best platformers for the NES.

And what I believe is a guy from Harvest moon hitting the big, yellow megaman boss with a hammer.

Oh, and when I said Ganon, I actually meant Gannnon, which is what he was known as when he was drawn like that for Legend Of Zelda.

While I LOVE this image and all, I will tell you that it is not official Nintendo art (came from the 4 color rebellion forums, which have been down), and therefore, not a reason to expect any of these games to be playable in VC.

that said, here are some fun things about the image!

-Master Higgins and Wonderboy fighting over the axe
-The 'bomber area' includes Mighty Bomb Jack, Bomberman, and Mouser from SMB2
-Luigi is driving the Outrun car while holding Puyos and dodging a shot from a Pac-man decaled Vic Viper piloted by Bonk; Roll is riding with Luigi because in Outrun your girlfriend is always in the car
-Raccoon Pac-Man is being chased by 4 Boos, representing Pac-man ghosts, which I think is the best game-series mashup on here
-The Triclyde, Zelda potions (and other powerups), treasure chest, eggplants, peaches, etc. are on a giant Burgertime hamburger bun next to Peter Pepper
-Ebisumaru is jumping over Higemaru from Pirate Ship Higemaru
-One of the Hammer Bros. is playing Game Boy with one of the Snow Bros. The link cable is even visible.

    edit: more...
-Arthur is reading one of the Princess's letters from SMB3
-The Famicom Disk System mascot, Diskun, is in the church; again, the proximity to the Game and Watch "mascot" creates a theme
-What I'm pretty sure is another Wonderboy (from Wonderboy 3, seen here dodging a bike-riding Alex Kidd) is using the Mega Man 2 Leaf Shield
-No idea why anyone would choose to include the guy from Rockin' Kats, but there he is, holding a Zapper

-This picture is a lot better than the Wii is going to be, and I don't mean that to disparage the Wii.

edit #2: I have a higher-res version, but Imageshack isn't letting me upload it. :/

Wonderboy is the original Commodore 64 game, which hudson ported to the NES, but changed the name and main character, while leaving levels untouched. I've played it on both, they're exactly the same. Still, both are fun.

The confusing part is when both games got different sequels. The REALLY confusing part is when Wonderboy II got ported to PC Engine and got a different name AGAIN, when the game was reworked as a Bikkuriman anime tie-in.

And THEN a Wonderboy game was released on the PC Engine that was called "Adventure Island!" And then an Adventure Island game was released! WOOOOOOOOO

    anyway, here.

Is that thing next to the upside down warp pipe a Lemming? I do hope so!

I like Bonk flying the Vic Viper, how very ironic! I was also suprised to see such an obscure Japanese game character... one of the dwarves from Don Doko Don.

It's weird that Bonk is piloting it and not Air Zonk/PC Denjin.

Did you save a separate file just before the first robot fight on the 64 version too?

Edit: The Mario sun looks pretty pissed off at that church.

The church probably dissed its mama!

Ah yes, that is indeeed the Yellow Devil. Good eye.

Robotnik is helping Wily work on ROB... That can't be good.

That koopa kid (Mort was it?) is waving a sword in the air while piloting a mech thing that I am unfamiliar with.

Now we're getting into the mystery characters. The bearded guy with the hammer, I don't know. Not from Harvest Moon though, since these are all strictly 8-bit characters. I also don' tknow the big mech thing that Morton Koopa Jr. is in. Also the fuzzy green/brown thing is a mystery to me.

Not only are Robotnik and Wily working on R.O.B., but also Professor Hector from Stack Up and Gyromite, who is reading this flyer for SEGA CHAN.

Oh, and check Lolo and Lala in the Yellow Devil's lap.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Wonder Boy was originally an arcade game produced by Sega.

    edited August 2006
Yep. Produced by Sega, developed by Escape for the arcade. C64 came later; Hudson somehow hooked up with Escape for the NES version even later.

I think the church is the one from Mother 1. The colors remind me of it.

The guy hammering the yellow devil looks like that guy that wasn't Mario in Wrecking Crew.

That's not true, otherwise Robotnik wouldn't be there.

cool Image. It's says "Help Me" scraped into the pyramid I think. but i can't tell. i just woke up and my eyes hurt.

Good point that Sonic was originally a Genesis game. That does make it a little more complicated. There were Master System and Game Gear versions of Sonic and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, though, so it mostly fits.

The "Help Me" pyramid is from New Zealand Story/Kiwi Kraze.
