OPEN CALL

Come on, gang, let's get started on another podcast!

I already have a submission from the ever prolific Amoeba Boy, and there's still plenty of room for all of you!

Write something, read something, whatever!

If you have any questions or need help, give me a shout!

I promise not to slack off on this one! I'm desperate for things to distract me from schoolwork! Senioritis and all!

And if you can't think of anything, you can use Amoeba Boy's topic thread:
[20:09] Amoeba Boy Zero: well if you haven't gotten any other articles, then by all means go ahead and make a thread
[20:09] Amoeba Boy Zero: I made a thread full of topics people can take if they use that excuse
[20:10] Jake of Laurania: excellent

Woo! I'm pumped!

I've been meaing to write something but have been in a bit of a creative rut regarding something suitable for an audio presentation. I blame school (mostly because it's a convenient excuse).

You should read Moby Dick to us, one chapter at a time.
  • edited September 2006
HA! I don't have Moby Dick. And I said I'd write something, not read it. Reading would require that I had a passable microphone and a quiet place/time to record it.

I'm considering writing a "What happened to all the original Megaman characters in the X-series games" theory. I may write it in story form. I'm currently tied up with a few large assignments though. If I get procrastinatey enough I'll have it done soon, otherwise I'll schedule it in for 2 weeks from now when my quarter ends. Still, don't hold your breath. Time likes to get away from me lately.

What I think would be a cool idea is this:

Using a podcasts ability to add images at certain points, you could have people draw art whichcould then be used as a sort of slideshow thingy.

    Or a video podcast.

I recieved a piece from X'o'Lore which needs a voice! Let me know if you're interested!

I could read some steamy erotic fiction.

...not that I have any, that is

If you need something, I could give it a go. Possibly a study on no sleep for 5 days, or something like "Maturity levels among highschool students. It'll probably start to even out at "Immature" starting with the freshmen and ending with the Seniors. This is at my school mind you, results may vary....but not often.

Any progress on this? I'm always open for fan versions of what's going on behind the scenes of the Mega Man games.

Well, I believe the first part was to be in the next podcast whenever that gets done. I haven't heard anything about it. As for the rest of the story, you'll just have to wait and see.

Did you ever include that one song I sang in a podcast? I mean, in its ENTIRETY.

Because I prefer using existing threads:

Hey everyone, I wanna start making podcasts on a more regular basis. I figure that the best way to force us to regularly release episodes is to have some sort of regular content, possibly powered by regular submission from you, the peoples. Here are a few regular features I've thought up:

-comic updates (contingent on people updating comics, of course, including myself)
-sleeping bag updates (contingent on Jon being on the Internet again and reading this little blurb)
-SCIENCE! movies (contingent on people actually watching the movies, and it'll be awhile before this comes to pass anyway, but something to think about)
-song submission (I know there are several people here who play instruments, and at least one that posts videos of Zelda piano performances on YouTube, so I'll bet we could get a lot of this category; Filleau, I have your song ready for the next podcast we make, edited down for time)
-Q&A (ask me, Jakey, or anyone on the forums questions, submitted either via audio recording or as email/forum posts for us to read, and we answer 'em; this can be about anything and everything)
-essays and short stories (either recorded, or in text form for the podcast host to read over the air)

I think making the podcast, say, once a month is a good goal. If anyone's with me on this, please please PLEASE send me content to use. We can't make podcasts when there's nothing to talk about.

    Does Poetry count?
  • edited May 2008
Yes. Perhaps instead of trying to come up with things I didn't mention in my list of suggestions, you could just submit material?
  • edited May 2008
You can't force the poetic process!
  • edited May 2008
    Oh, can't I?
  • edited May 2008
If only one could have such an attitude with podcasts, we might have more than seven of them ^__^
  • edited May 2008
Well what do you think this initiative is for? Making more podcasts!
  • edited May 2008
Very well! I shall try to whip something up by next week. Maybe Andrew will wanna collaborate on something...

Since making the initial request, the level of response averaged somewhere in the zero responses range. Does no one have some fun piece to contribute? You don't even have to record anything, I'd be glad to read any written pieces over the air. Anyone? Bueller? Fry?
  • edited July 2008
What kind of stuff would like contributed? Because I wouldn't mind recording something.
  • edited July 2008
I did contribute something a long time ago, but I don't think anyone felt up to the task of trying to read it.

I imagine they would feel like they'd have to supply a variety of odd voices and that just ends up being kind of silly. I've considered just posting the story up before for simple reading, but then forgot all about it again.
  • edited July 2008
I'd be happy to give it a look-see! I have no problem doing voices.
  • edited July 2008
meh. mehbeh i'll come up wif somethin'. i keep saying that every time... Though I actually already have a mic set up right now, maybe that'll be enough to motivate me.
  • edited July 2008
Unfortunately I don't really produce art anymore... but I love consuming it and mimicking it! I too would be happy to attempt to read stuff, or do voices, or sing, or whatever.

There's a lot of art out there that I really enjoy, I always like sharing that with people.
  • edited July 2008
Hey i would be interested in doing some voice-over work and i have a full studio at my disposal. I need the practice so send me some stuff and gimme a deadline...
  • edited July 2008
If the Q&A thing is still open for questions I could send some, hilarity may ensue.
  • edited July 2008
I just dug up my old entry. I couldn't really remember what I wrote, and looking at it again, it could really use some revising. It's a bit sloppy and unfocused.

ETA: It's a Megaman apocolypse thing if you don't feel like going back through this thread again. Someone had requested it. I only did one "chapter" and apparently I started a second but didn't get all that far. I'll have to try and remember where I was going with this. I should've made a little outline.

    I sent Mario a li'l some'ing some'ing, hopefully he uses it!
  • edited July 2008
I could always do a reading of that poetry piece I posted. It didn't really garner any attention, so maybe this would bring it to a larger audience. Is there any particular program you'd recommend for recording audio?
  • edited July 2008
A lot of people seem to like Audacity for basic audio-recording, and you can't beat the price.

Bruce, you sent me the lyrics to "Never Gonna Give You Up". You textrolled me! But more importantly, that song was already in a podcast.

But Bruce aside, many thanks to everyone for responding to the call!
