Late to the party: NINTENDO DS!

edited October 2006 in Games
After serious arm twisting from my internship co-workers (who had Nintendo DS parties after lunch where they'd all play Mario Kart), I finally bought a DS lite (on the last day of the internship).

It is quite, as they say, TEH AWESOME. Particularly the 8-player-action-with-only-one-cartridge. Well-engineered case and great design all around (except for the must-reboot-after-changing-settings thing)

Can anyone recommend really good, must-have games?
(I've started off my freefall into addiction with New Super Mario Bros., Brain Age, and Starfox Command.)

Another Code! Tis a frightfully fun RPG. Except in level one you gotta move a huge stone by rubbing it, and it takes ages.

PS: The game is called Trace Memory in the US.

    Castlevania!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My god, how was Castlevania missed?

As a side, none of you truly understand the mastery Behemoth has of Castlevania DS. He took my copy for about half a year, and when I got it back, he had nine of every possible weapon upgrade, nine of every soul, and nine of every item. And it was all done legit. And, he named the file Kamisama (God in Japanese).

I'm probably going to start another Julius mode game in Castlevania once I've finished Phoenix Wright.

    Good thread.

I have but 3 games that are unique to my DS. One is a dictionary, one is Mariokart, and one is Rockman ekuze. Why did I buy Advance games that were all re-makes. I coulda sworn I had another game, something to do with 魂を得る事, but I can't seem to find that one any more...

You rub the rock? Man, I feel stupid now. I wandered around forever trying to figure out how to proceed, and then I didn't have the free time to play RPGs for months. Maybe now I can finally get back to that game.

Is Rockman Ekuze the same as Mega Man ZX? I heard that was a good game.

But yeah, get Phoenix Wright, right now.

What is the actual gameplay of Phoenix Wright? One of said co-workers had it, and I tried playing it for about five minutes, but I was still tapping through screens and screens (and screeeens) of dialogue without any real interaction.

I never had much time to play it outside of that...

There are a lot of those, but in many cases they are the keys to the game. It plays out just a little bit like an interactive Law and Order. You are given a crime, and you prepare for court by searching the scene of the crime (using the stylus) and collecting and examining eyewitness accounts and character accounts.

In court, you use your own observations to point out flaws in the witness's testimony by either questioning them further or producing a piece of evidence to shed some light on things. Gradually, the case takes a few turns and the real perpetrator is revealed.

Haha, yeah, I have to give that back to you. It's sitting here in my desk drawer.

Ah. Thanks, Stef. That actually sounds kind of cool. All I saw were the courtroom scenes with bad anime tropes, but poking around a crime scene and presenting evidence would probably be nifty.

Damn joo all. I've been looking for Phoenix wright, it's been sold out for so long. I just finally got one reserved, after two months of being on a waiting list for a new shipment. Anyways, a game to suggest.

I think it's called "The Usual Suspects" it LOOKS good. Also Brain Age, it eats up a bit of time and is pretty interesting. I got a few more games, but I don't know which kinds you'd like.
