Utopia is boring! I demand chaos! Failing that, some idea of what sort of things are intended to be found on this particular forum would be quite nice.
the records themselves are not dappled (nor spotted, freckled, or otherwise spotted).
so, basically, i run and operate a record label called dappled records. currently, we release compact discs containing material recorded by my friends and i. i hope to have cds by bands that i am not in eventually, but we shall see. this forum will be used to discuss these releases and their related bands/musical projects.
my guess is, the vast majority of the current orangebelters will not care much, but a few new members will join for this subforum. we may or may not stick around, depending on whether or not a forum seems like a good idea after the website goes up. just thought i'd give it a try.
EDIT: Nice reputation you guys are giving me...yeah I know it's my falut initially, but honestly...I ALSO DO A SPRITE COMIC CONTEST. Nice to meet you, Carlo.
Please, we needn't have the first thread devolve like this. Having been informed of the purpose of this forum I must say with some regret that Carlo is correct that I don't care much. I believe my entire music collection consists of one old soundtrack and I don't even know where that CD is anymore. That said, I'm sure there are a good few here who would enjoy having a place to discuss things musical.
Seriously, a first thread should be about making I good impression. Posting about the... oh, I'd say.... third darkest event in OB history isn't gonna help too much.
Records are cool. Someday I'm gonna get a phonograph of my own. And also a rotary phone. They're retrolicious.
Hmm, this isn't a bad idea. I've worked a lot with local bands, hoping to get into the music industry more. I also dabble myself, particularly and obligatorily in guitar. Walk with me, talk with me, we have much to discuss.
Yeah, I wish I could afford to go back in time, too.
Bah! you can get records cut still, they're just expensive. By the way, watching the machines that master records work is A TRIP. I think fantasy studios in the SF still has one, despite their recent downsizing. oh, and screw vhinyl, 2 inch 24 track reel to reel is where its at. As the whippersnappers like to say, FTW. Try and argue, I'll smack you with a 25 pound reel of tape. Seriously though, once you go analog, you never go back.
Meh, that's using the term in a rather odd way.
Analog: of or pertaining to a mechanism that represents data by measurement of a continuous physical variable, as voltage or pressure.
And it's irrelevant in terms of sound. Analog in sound is obviously rooted in "analogous", meaning that the recording is similar to the sound wave itself, such as pulses in light on film or variations in magnetism on tape or waves in a record. They are ways of capturing the actual wave as opposed to creating thousands of little snapshots which are of a limited variability. (16 bits, generally, though 24 is becoming more prevalent.) what once was a smooth wave now looks like stairs as you chart it over time. Don't believe me? play a reel to reel tape at half speed, the difference (other than the pitch dropping) is hardly noticeable. Try that with a digital recording and you'll hear all those lovely steps I was just talking about.
right, i'm'a just be quiet now, I can go on for days about this.

I joke, I joke, but you set yourself up for that one.
In the meantime, what do you viewers at home think this forum is about? PEOPLE WHO ALREADY KNOW DO NOT GET TO ANSWER.

Also: This is good. We've been needing something like this for a while.

Yes, I am getting on the bandwagon.
