The man in back with the hat is how I always pictured Khan to look like.

Words cannot adequately express the bizarreness.

    Or the awesomeness.

Which are combining to cause some sort of brain-damaging radiation.

Sadly, I think Khan is not actually around to accrue the brain damage from this homage. His loss. I just heard one of their songs in the iTunes music store.

    Hahaha.

The guy on the right is thinking "WHY DID I SELL ALL OF MY HAIR FOR ONLY HALF OF A COAT?"

The guy on the left is thinking "I cannot believe that idiot sold me all of his hair for half a coat. I made some rocking sideburns out of it."

    Only in German.

And I have found a live performance of their hit song, "Moskau", right here! The Flash video ran somewhat stuttery for me, but the download link below it worked fine. Stef and I are already committed to learning this song-and-dance routine.

You can find this and many other Dshinghis Khan classics on iTunes.

    That video redefines "awesome."

If I had any prowess with animating gifs, I would make the monkey do that dance.
  • edited February 2006
I guess that's what I'll be doing tomorrow, then!

It truly is the greatest thing EVAR.

I wasn't convinced that the video could ever live up to the album cover. I WAS WRONG!

Just had to grab a nice still of the gang:

Jon wanted a closeup of the male backup singers. Apparently the guy in blue wasn't too happy about being there. Or maybe he just got last pick of costumes, and blue was not his favorite. Regardless:

He wants to kill them all. You can see it in his eyes.

I bet he has sharpened teeth.

    Looks that way:

See. I know a psychotic killer when I see one.

Sneak preview: Frame 1 of the Moskau Monkey animation!
  • edited February 2006
This has the potential to be the greatest avatar in the history of man.
  • edited February 2006
I think I put the arms the wrong way. I'll fix it when I do the rest of the animation.

Not sure if I'll be able to do the whole dance, either, since the thing's pretty long. I'll try to get the first bit done, though.

EDIT: You know what? The woman in the yellow dress really got gypped in that video. Everyone else got a closeup except for her.

So that's where Dr. Evil went! Back in time to the 70's to rejoin his old band!

lets hope theres never a WWIII, because we'd be too hypnotized by them to fight and germany would conquer us all

I think I just won the internet. Awesome.

Man, you gotta love disco songs about Moscow, sung in Berlin-wall era Germany. I just imagine it being like a musical version of James Bond, or something.
  • edited February 2006
Great, now that's gonna be stuck in my head ALL DAY.

    Moskau!

    Oh Venus cool....
  • edited February 2006
my God, did I live until this moment?

We need a translation of that song.

    Moskau
    Fremd und geheimnisvoll
    Türme aus rotem Gold
    Kalt wie das Eis
    Moskau
    Doch wer dich wirklich kennt
    Der weiß, ein Feuer brennt
    In dir so heiß

Kosaken hey hey hey hebt die Gläser
Natascha ha ha ha du bist schön
Towarisch hey hey hey auf das Leben
Auf Dein Wohl Bruder hey Bruder ho

    Moskau, Moskau
Wirf die Gläser an die Wand
    Russland ist ein schönes Land
Ho ho ho ho ho, hey
    Moskau, Moskau
    Deine Seele ist so groß
Nachts da ist der Teufel los
Ha ha ha ha ha, hey
    Moskau, Moskau
    Liebe schmeckt wie Kaviar
    Mädchen sind zum küssen da
Ho ho ho ho ho, hey
    Moskau, Moskau
Komm wir tanzen auf dem Tisch
    Bis der Tisch zusammenbricht
    Ha ha ha ha ha

    Moskau
    Tor zur Vergangenheit
    Spiegel der Zarenzeit
    Rot wie das Blut
    Moskau
    Wer deine Seele kennt
    Der weiß, die Liebe brennt
    Heiß wie die Glut

Kosaken hey hey hey hebt die Gläser
Natascha ha ha ha du bist schön
Towarisch hey hey hey auf die Liebe
Auf Dein Wohl Mädchen hey Mädchen ho

    Moskau, Moskau
Wirf die Gläser an die Wand
    Russland ist ein schönes Land
Ho ho ho ho ho, hey

    Deine Seele ist so groß
Nachts da ist der Teufel los

    Moskau, Moskau

    Moskau, Moskau
Wodka trinkt man pur und kalt
    Das macht hundert Jahre alt
ha ha ha ha ha, hey
    Moskau, Moskau
    Väterchen dein Glas ist leer
Doch im Keller ist noch mehr
    Ha ha ha ha ha

    Moskau, Moskau
    Liebe schmeckt wie Kaviar
    Mädchen sind zum küssen da
    Ha ha ha ha ha
    Moskau, Moskau

That was pretty good. But can you ever hope to do better?

hectar hectar, hey! is going to be my new catchphrase.
  • edited February 2006
Let me just say: This whole thread looks and sounds like a flash gordon/bucks fizz convention, with fans dressing in silly costumes.

By that I mean: Who the hell are they?
  • edited February 2006
They are the new champions of Germany.

Or Russia, I'm still not really sure where they come from.

Wow, I can't turn the sound on because I'm at work but this looks funny. The guy in front looks like a redesigned Santa Claus.
