Yeah, super rich now. Like, lighting Cuban cigars with $100 bills rich. But, yeah, I was starting to get a little funny near the end. All twitchy and weird. But I do like money, and we don't get much overtime throughout the year anymore, so you have to grab it when you can.
I've received two decision letters so far from the seven PhD programs I applied to. Both of the received ones have, so far, been acceptance letters offering me a full scholarship and stipend.
I was a shaky wreck on Saturday when I get my first letter, and tonight when I received my second one, I was still kind of excited, but less so. I'm just so HAPPY right now that all of my hard work these past several years has payed off.
I want to give thanks where it's due, so most of the people on here who were here several years ago, you've helped me get this far. You're all a part of the man I've become. Thank you. Thank you. A thousand times thank you.
In December I was asked in an FYE store to sign up for this 'backstage pass' program that basically just gave out a ton of discounts for various stores and things. I was told that the first month was available at no charge, and afterwards I would be asked if I would like to continue.
I agreed to sign up, but after returning home I had second thoughts and decided that I simply didn't do enough shopping to justify the monthly charge. Since I had been told that after the trial month I would have to confirm my commitment to the services, I threw away the membership cards and papers figuring the subscription would expire and that would be the end of it.
Then, the other day I noticed an $11.99 charge on my credit card. I got all upset because I hadn't confirmed my membership and shouldn't be getting charged and I didn't think they'd be doing automatic billing in the first place. While searching online I read a bunch of horror stories of other people who had had similar things happen to them in this program, couldn't get the charges stopped, etc, so I was fearing the worst. I emailed them, and... they cancelled my membership and refunded the money.
Well its tech support as the starting role, but because the office is expanding soon, they might be putting me in a more sysadmin-y role in the near future.
If the OB still exists, I have an awesome success. I found a job here in the US. I'm moving to Michigan in a few weeks. I also bought a car that I like. So, yay for me.

Pleasant surprise.
Congrats on the job!
Guess I'd better start rustling up 25 litres of lager then.
As for my own awesome success, I'm a certified level 1 Magic: the Gathering judge as of 11 hours ago.
