What I loathe more are "smartphones", like my husband's blackberry. How awful is that, to have work follow you home, and buzz all night as clients send emails? We place it somewhere where I won't be able to hear it: far away, muffled by carpet. Work should stay in the office.
And social networking, ugh. Whenever I'm near the young and popular crowd these days (including people older than myself), I see that their life is clearly being run by Facebook. If it's a social event or family gathering, photos are being taken for facebook, "Look, we're all having a good time!" ... and once the photos are taken, everyone is heads down making posts, not paying attention to anyone but the phone. Aren't the most important people the ones you're with?
I like smart phones, but I avoid frequent communication while out of the house. I ignore the phone if it's someone I don't want to talk to, I respond to texts only rarely, and I use social networking sites once in a blue moon.
I only have a facebook account because some of my friends are impossible to contact otherwise; that and I'd like to keep in contact with them after I graduate.
But seriously, the telephone leads only to rudeness from others and a necessity for me to talk to people I don't want to.
Yay for silent mode! Yay for off buttons! Yay for blocking annoying people!
I may be biased, as I am a member of one of the most notoriously phone-dependent age groups, but I honestly believe the majority of cell phone related annoyances can be solved with the above three tactics.
I have some friends who send out those annoying "If you don't do X, in Y days, then a pie will be thrown in your face" texts. Sadly I don't know that until after they have my phone number.
On my phone I have the option to blacklist (their texts won't show up) them, while still receiving their calls. I can also do the reverse or both.
So a little while ago I met this girl who was basically my everything and we got pretty into each other until she met this 15 year old girl from Columbia on the internet that she liked more than me. Shit sucks.

Don't know how to respond to this. Sorry? Shit sucks? No one expects the spanish inquisition? Pics Nao?
My sister's toddler apparently consumed one of her diabetes pills and had his blood-sugar dropped to (near?) fatal levels. He was whisked to the hospital however and will likely be ok (staying under observation), but I suspect my sister is feeling pretty miserable. I feel a bit down by association. Does that count?

Except for the part where I made NO typo then you started changing my words to meet your opinions which is NOT what they were meant to reflect.
Agreed.

I dream of a slower time.

You gave your phone number to annoying people? And then you blocked them?
... why does this not compute. Blocking someone? on your PHONE???

I want a new phone...
Shit.

In all seriousness though: Wow.
For both of you.
