I've always drank mostly water. I only have sugary drinks at parties. I used to drink tea fairly regularly, now I almost never drink it. I've started drinking a lot of coffee, always black, no sugar. I drink 7 cups (that's as measured on the coffee pot, I think that's 6oz cups, it's only 2 mugs) each morning now and I usually stop once or twice at a Starbucks during work. I miss being able to get oolong tea out of vending machines on every corner. That's one of the most refreshing drinks ever. If you're thirsty, oolong seems to be the most satisfying.

I've had a history of being addicted to soda at various times in my life; I remember when I quit cold turkey against my will when I was around 10 (my younger brother had to go on some special diet and the whole family stopped drinking soda), I was PISSED I couldn't have Diet Dr Pepper anymore. I don't even remember enjoying it that much! I just remember drinking it ALL THE TIME.

Since I started college I've gotten a lot more addicted to soda. High school I mostly stuck with water, but in college I just go out to eat more often and soda is readily available to me. I haven't lived in a house with soda in years and years (actually, since that one failed attempt at my brother's diet), and I've been fine.

I've noticed lately though... I've been cutting back on how many cigarettes I have, and I've all of a sudden been craving soda like crazy. I've driven through a drive through on the way home from work twice in the past 2 weeks just to get a soda. At first I figured I was just exchanging one addiction for another, but Greg suggested it might be that I can actually TASTE things more now and therefore I'm enjoying simple things like soda. That, or I just started classes again and I'm getting back into the pattern of being chronically sleep deprived. Alls I know is that soda has tasted amazing the past few weeks.

Can't remember the last time I drank soda. There's a chance I had ginger ale at my grandmother's house in January.

    Liquid vices are expensive.

Oh, I prefer tea and I drink it when it's available. The thing is, it's rarely available.

And I don't really like water. It's great when you're thirsty and want something to hydrate you, but with meals it just tastes like mouth.

I've found myself starting to drink water just because it's way cheaper than soda and juice. It's nice having a never ending supply of drink whenever you need it since I tend to tear through kool-aid and soda if I'm not paying attention to how much I'm having. You're right about it not going well with foods though, I've found myself starting to eat meals without a drink and drink water without food just because I think the two clash against each other so much.

I don't understand how you can not "like" water. It's fucking water! you're made of it! So's your food! Get used to it.

"Cheaper"? It's FREE. It comes from the tap in any building, even outside of buildings! It FALLS from the SKY.

Tea is also incredibly easy to make! Boil water. Add tea bag. DRINK. You can do it on the stove if you lack a kettle. I hope you're all writing this one down. Can you make soda so easily? HELLS NO! Kool-aid takes just as much work!

I also ... hate? this is the hate thread? because I had success today in using Vinegar and Water to get all the Shit out of my Kettle. It was amazing. I wish my husband had been more impressed with my kitchen prowess.

I don't know what you people mean by a drink going with a meal. I eat, then I drink water. Sometimes, if I'm thirsty, I take a break from eating to drink some water and then finish my meal. How could that possibly make your meal taste bad? Are you those weirdos who actually wash down their food by drinking something? If so, WTF is wrong with you? You have teeth, chew more.

You know, you can change that. Go to Tools > AutoCorrect Options > AutoCorrect. You can alter what words are and are not changed, or just turn it off entirely.

I drank mostly water all summer, as I worked at a summer camp where soda was not readily available. Its been mostly juice and water since spring. Or it has been mostly juice and water. I had to break down today because my stupid stomach has decided that it is no longer accepting food. Even a bite of toast makes me want to barf. I've been surviving mostly on Coke and Tums for three days now. GARRRRRRRRRR

Man, that's bad. Whenever I had a stomach flu when I was a kid I always lived on 7 Up and toast. That way at least when I threw up it wasn't miserable.

Water is so much worse to throw up than 7 Up...

    A healthy, balanced diet.

7 Up is generally really awesome for calming upset stomachs.

Like, more so then other Lemon-Lime flavored beverages.

It turns out that I still have a place to read politics at Greenwich University in September 2010. This seems like great success, yes?

Sadly not! It turns out that I may not be able to go, simply due to the fact that this will be my third time doing third year due to illness, and the student loan company in the UK do not wish to give me a loan to pay for my tuition fees.

So unless I can convince them otherwise, I can't afford to go to university :(

My back is in spasms, pretty similar to back at Christmas when I ended up going to the emergency room and spending a week mostly immobile. It's not as bad, it's more like the beginning stages, so I'm trying to not make any sudden movements, since thats how I ended up really fucking it up last time and pinching a nerve. Skipped my classes because I can't walk anywhere, especially while carrying books, and I'm going home in a couple hours so I can get to a doctor, chiropractor, and sleep in a bed that isn't six feet off the ground.

Cruddy. Sounds like a good plan of action though.

Today at work, around 20 cell lines got contaminated. It's probably a little under of what we were working on and it's all garbage now. I don't even want to think about how much time it'll waste restarting them and getting them back to where they were.

    The what now?

I'm pretty sure he works in a lab. Cell samples or some such thing for experiments/tests I'd imagine. Probably a considerable setback when a bunch of them get messed up.

I mean, seriously, an army of mutant minions isn't going to up and appear out of thin air.

Why can't you elect someone sexy, North Korea?
  • edited October 2010
I'm sure it won't be a problem in North Korea, what with the massive cult of personality the government is engineering for him.
  • edited October 2010
    Yeah, ...

All that comes to mind is Mr. Personality.

Well goddammit. My Windows 7 install if fucked. Can't even complete a windows update. Can't actually use or remove several programs, it won't successfully shut down, basically there's nothing to say other than it's fucked. This is something I knew. Some incompatible programs messed a lot of stuff up. I had time set aside to reinstall it and stick to compatible versions of everything, but as fate would have it, I no longer seem to possess a windows 7 disc. Poof. It has vanished into oblivion. Looks like I'm not going to be running Windows 7. Ever.
