Where do you live Tak? NY law seems a little loose on these things. Ostensibly, you have to get a 30 minute break for an 8 hour shift and 2 15 minute breaks on top of that for 12 hours or more. But we were allowed to forgo those exact laws in our contract and we get 15 minutes in an 8 hour shift, we get an unpaid 30 minute meal and a 15 in an 8.5 hour shift and we get an additional 30 minute meal after 10 hours. Over 40 hours in a week is overtime, but there's no specific law about it being time and a half or double time, that's just within our contract. Our management never get time and a half, they just get paid straight time and have a salary cap. If they work too much they have to work for free. By law, you have to have 8 hours in between shifts after a shift of 16 hours or more, and 3 hours in between anything less for it to count as a different shift. So, we can work 15.5 hours, wait 3 hours and do it again. By contract, our company can force us to work 20 hour shifts with 6 in between if it's an emergency, but during normal operation we are entitled to 8 hours of sleep time after a 12 hour shift, so they can't force us in, but we can come in if we want after 3 hours. For example, whenever we have a storm and I'm forced on 16's, I work 16 hours with a 15 minute break and 2 30 minute meals, then I have 8 hours "sleep time" (drive home, eat, shower, sleep drive back) and then back for another 16 until the emergency status is lifted.
I doubt it, the damn thing sounded like it was getting scratched to shit. Couple it with the fact that no computer recognises it anymore in anyway, and the fact that professional data recovery is in the high hundreds at best.
If if makes you feel better my car has been having issues with starting for quite some time. It's been towed more than once over it, and been in different shops several times and they never ever fix it.
Well, it's the "Key Ignition Column," or something like that. The whole device failed, and they're having to replace it completely. Parts and labor are going to run me about $300.
The silver lining is that I'll have the car back by tomorrow afternoon.
By the time they get around to deciding they should actually fix my car it'll probably be something over $1500. I've already paid hundreds of dollars to have it not fixed.
I was looking after my mum's dogs tonight. After feeding them, I let them out in the garden and get myself a drink.
Two minutes later I see the garden is empty, with the gate swinging open. Shit.
So I hastily grabbed their leads and looked outside, seeing two dogs going one way, one going another. I chase the first one, catch him, but the fucker refused to go on the lead, so I had to carry him.
Then I leg it out the front and the dogs have separated into the different directions. I run after the closer one, who as I approach starts eating another dog's crap off the floor. He too refuses to go on the lead and I have to carry him. He keeps trying to lick my face.
Finally, I run in the direction the last dog went, and she is also the fastest. In the end I manage to catch her by doing a flying rugby tackle and by pure luck managing to grab her. At least she lets me use the lead.
The local news stations for Idaho Falls (Where I like, and which holds pretty much the 2nd largest 4th of July fireworks display in the country, and definitely the largest west of the Mississippi river.) Have decided that instead of showing the fireworks display that they're going to continue with their standard news, with the fireworks in live, in a SMALLER split screen (Which of course is set up so that about half the screen is unused) to their standard news. "This just in, Ice Cream causes brain freezes" (This is not a joke, that is an actual piece they're running right now.) Of course they stop entirely for the commercial breaks.
Excuse me, I have to go find my Torch and Pitchfork and mob the TV Station and their fucking retarded operators.
Oh yeah, also this is the west, and not California, so no one knows what the damn internet is, so there's no live streams either. Though I can probably catch it tomorrow on Youtube.
Well my motherboard decided it didn't want to boot this morning. After much messing around it seems to have decided that my second memory channel is for suckers. As long as my second memory channel is empty it's perfectly content to run a single memory channel with whatever memory I want to populate it with.
So I basically could use a new motherboard, but finding good AM2+ microATX motherboards is not so simple these days.
If your system is using AM2, isn't that a sign that it's getting on a bit, as AM3 came out in 2009?
Though that said, AMD's recent performance stats have been pretty disappointing, so might it not be a better bet overall to just nab an Ivy Bridge board and CPU and just run with that?
I bought this motherboard in early 2009 just before am3. DDR2 was really cheap then.
I'm starting a class next week that goes through he end of September. As I've discussed it involves building a computer (and no they won't let me test out). Since I have to pay a bunch of extra for the parts I would assume I get to keep them. I'm really itchin' to find the teacher and figure out what this kit consists of because if it's at least a sandy bridge, I can possibly just swap some parts over and make that my main rig. I wasn't going to build a proper upgrade for a couple years yet.
Cutting my ram in half in capacity and performance funny enough doesn't really have a noticeable impact on anything I actually do with it these days. Ironically, the boot issues seem to have disappeared with the second half of my memory. So I'll just cope for now until I find out more about that class and then decide for sure what to do about it. I got too much decent hardware in this thing just to throw it out yet.
I wish my motherboard would die already so I could justify buying a new one. Another guy I know had his motherboard fry over the weekend. Therefore I can safely assume everybody is having motherboard problems except for the guy who wants one.
For days I've had a piece of rotting food stuck in the back of my sinuses and no matter how hard I blow or snort it won't come out. Now even when I brush my teeth my mouth tastes like I have bad breath.

So, new computer but all the shit I wanted to transfer across? Gone. Including almost all my photos of Esmé
The silver lining is that I'll have the car back by tomorrow afternoon.
I hope the $300 fix works for you.
Fnerkling auto industry taking all my fnerkling money. At least I had it set aside.

Here is a map of the race after the bastards:

Life sucks.
...and this makes my brother's cat killing my fish Cynthia look minor in comparison.
