    *looks back*

Oh, it does imply that. Guess that would be a good factor, as in how long exactly "a short time later" was.

"School board officials issued a statement Wednesday night saying due to confidentiality reasons they can't discuss the specifics of this case."

OMG that was in the last paragraph in the article.

    Semantics in Baby Mutilation
Mom blames ferret for chewing off baby's toes

BENTON, Louisiana (AP) -- A woman jailed after four of her infant daughter's toes were gnawed off says the family's pet ferret did it, not their pit bull pup as police had said.

But her husband blames the dog, a city official said.

"The way the bite marks were on her foot, the ferret being out of its cage, I knew it wasn't the dog," Mary Hansche told KTBS-TV on Tuesday.

The month-old girl was injured December 10 as Hansche, 22, and her husband, Christopher Hansche, 26, slept; they woke up when they heard her crying. (Watch the calls come in to rescue the puppy Video)

The parents were jailed on $50,000 bond each, charged with child desertion and criminal negligence.

The husband had blamed the dog and told police the ferret had been in its cage all night, Bossier City spokesman Mark Natale said Wednesday.

The charges wouldn't change regardless of which pet was involved, Natale said, because the baby "was injured by an animal while in the custody of the parents."

The girl has been released from the hospital and is in state custody.

Attorney Pam Smart said she is waiting for results of a hair analysis to back up the couple's statement that they were not using drugs, calling the case a "very unfortunate accident."

Why does it matter which animal did it?
  • edited December 2006
Yes, because I'm fairly certain the ferret is innocent.

    1: They have tiny mouths
2: Their jaws have nowhere near enough power to removed any appendages

    Unless they were gnawed off.

How is that neglection? I mean, it happened in the middle of the night while everyone was sleeping!
  • edited December 2006
They left the child exposed to the dangerous animals while they left to sleep. A ferret could definitely chew off a baby's toes. The difference would be which animal gets destroyed. Plus, they don't want to keep the one that at their baby's toes.
  • edited December 2006
Sounds to me like the pit bull is the wife's pet, and the ferret is the husband's.
  • edited December 2006
What, was the baby sleeping on the floor or something?

Maybe now they'll re-think those bacon baby booties.

Damages for fall that led to raging libido
LONDON: A newly married man whose sex drive became uncontrollable after he suffered a head injury at work won more than £3 million ($7.5 million) damages in London's High Court.

Stephen Tame, 29, had been married to Sarah, 30, for eight months when he fell from a gantry while working in a cycle warehouse in January 2002.

Although he recovered from the accident after two years of treatment, the injury unleashed a libido that could not be kept in check, the court was told.

Judge Michael Harris, awarding £3.166 million damages, said Mr Tame had misbehaved in the presence of women, watched pornographic videos and called phone sex lines.

Mr Tame's lawyer, Bill Braithwaite, QC, said his client had visited a prostitute and had an affair with a 57-year-old woman, which the judge said could destroy his marriage. The accident left him impatient and aggressive, the judge said. Mrs Tame is living with her parents and receiving treatment for clinical depression.

The judge said Mr Tame was extremely unlikely to find paid work again. "This young man has been transformed and, in a sense, the fact that he has some awareness makes it worse, because every moment he is reminded of what he might have been. … On my conclusions, he has lost his marriage and probably lost the prospect of a family," he said.

So, if you get £3million for being innappropriate, watching porn and calling sex phone lines, then every 16 year old on the planet would be a millionaire.

Looks like Mr.Tame was more like Mr.Not-So-Tame.

Man admits dismembering his sister, 20
Police arrested a 21-year-old cram school student Thursday after he admitted killing and dismembering his 20-year-old sister, a junior college student whose cut-up corpse was found the previous night in his room in their home in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward.

The body of Azumi Muto, the daughter of dentist Mamoru Muto, 62, who has a clinic on the first floor of the family's three-story home, had been cut into more than 10 parts, police said, identifying the suspect as her brother, Yuki.

Her head, arms and legs also bore signs of other assault-related injuries.

The body, packed in four plastic bags, was found by the victim's mother around 9 p.m. Wednesday in the brother's room on the third floor, police said. The body parts had no clothing on them.

"I killed my sister because I got mad at her," the brother was quoted by police sources as saying in interrogation.

The suspect got angry because the victim criticized his poor academic performance and taunted him by saying she had a dream but he didn't, the sources said.

The brother told police that he cut off her head, arms and legs with a saw and a kitchen knife, the sources said.

During questioning, he cried and apologized, they added. The mother, who was out of town visiting relatives until late Tuesday night, last spoke with her daughter Saturday afternoon through the intercom at the front door as she left on a trip with her eldest son, police said.

According to police, the suspect was home Sunday but left in the afternoon to attend a 12-day session scheduled to run through Jan. 11 at his Hayama, Kanagawa Prefecture, cram school, which is geared for aspiring dentists and doctors.

"I am really surprised because (the arrest) was out of the blue. I saw nothing strange in his behavior," said a worker at the cram school, where police found the suspect early Thursday.

The gruesome find is Tokyo's third in two months -- the upper torso of an Asian man was found near JR Shinjuku Station last month, and his lower torso was discovered later in the garden of a vacant house in Shibuya. DNA analysis determined the body parts belong to the same man, but his identity remains unknown and the head is missing.

Muto lived in the house with her father, 57-year-old mother, who is also a dentist, and the two brothers, police said.

The mother and the 23-year-old other brother went on a trip Saturday afternoon and were later joined by Mamoru Muto, who left Sunday night to join them, police said. The three returned home Tuesday night.

I killed my sister because I got mad at her

    Well that's alright then. Jesus.
  • edited January 2007
well i think its needless to say that the person probably had some story behind killing his sister not just "i got mad at her." probably some pent up rage
  • edited January 2007
You say that like it's some kind of reasonable and justifiable excuse. He chopped her into pieces.
  • edited January 2007
10 pieces. She was teasing him about being a better student than he was. Yeah, I can see him getting a little annoyed, but this is a bit much.

I used to get into fights with my brother and he threw a popcorn popping bowl at me when he got really mad. Or attack me with a belt (which doesn't work well for a fight. only good for a spanking). Massive mutilation is rather extreme.

When I was criticized about my academic skills by my younger sister I also didn't get along with, I just said I had a car, and she ran off crying. Truth is, I still don't have a car.

    Student faces child porn charges
FALL RIVER - A college student who mistakenly submitted a compact disc loaded with child pornography images to his professor last week is now facing felony kiddie porn possession charges.

Andrew Erickson, 18, of 57 Lee's River Ave., Swansea, was arrested by Fall River and Swansea police late last week. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released after a family member posted his $500 cash bail.

The Bristol Community College student was to submit his computer information systems final examination on compact disc last week.

But instead of submitting the class work, Erickson allegedly handed in a disc that contained images of children as young as 7-years-old in sexually explicit situations. The disc, according to police reports, listed each youth by age, ranging from 7 to 14.

The professor opened the compact disc while at home last week, and upon realizing what was on the disc, turned it over to Wayne Wood, BCC's director of public safety.

Wood immediately set up a meeting with Fall River Detective Brian Cordeiro, which was held at the Elsbree Street campus last Friday.

Sgt. Ronald Furtado said after viewing the disc, police requested and received a search warrant for Erickson's home. He said Fall River and Swansea police executed the search warrant late last week and found "other items that were taken into evidence," from Erickson's bedroom.

Prior to being arrested, Erickson apparently realized he had handed in the wrong disc to his professor.

Police reports quote an e-mail Erickson sent to his professor, in which he appears to attempt to shift ownership of the disc from himself to an unnamed friend.

"Oh snap, I am sorry. I accidentally gave you my friend's mixed music CD that I meant to keep here and install the music on my computer," Erickson said in an e-mail to his professor. "I found the CD with the (final exam) on it. If there's some way I could send it to you, that would be great.

"I am sorry about that, and hope it didn't affect the grade at all. Again, if I could get that CD back so that I can install the music. Sorry for the mix up."

Erickson is due back in Second District Court for a pretrial hearing Feb. 21.

Do college kids really say "Oh snap" to their professors?
