Wait, cancerous dragons? They're already on death row, no reason to start any quests to slay them.
Or were they dragons that breathe cancer? I can imagine someone wanting to start a quest to slay those.
A court in Pakistan has ordered the authorities temporarily to block the Facebook social networking site.
The order came when a petition was filed after the site held a competition featuring caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.
The petition, filed by a lawyers' group called the Islamic Lawyers' Movement, said the contest was "blasphemous".
A message on the competition's information page said it was not "trying to slander the average Muslim".
"We simply want to show the extremists that threaten to harm people because of their Muhammad depictions that we're not afraid of them," a statement on the "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" said.
"They can't take away our right to freedom of speech by trying to scare us into silence."
The information section of the page said that it was set up by a Seattle-based cartoonist, Molly Norris.
It contains caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad and characters from other religions, including Hinduism and Christianity, as well as comments both critical and supportive of Islam.
'Blasphemous'
Publications of similar cartoons in Danish newspapers in 2005 sparked angry protests in Muslim countries - five people were killed in Pakistan.
Facebook page
Facebook has more than 400 million users sharing 25 billion things a month
Already the Pakistani press has reported protests against Facebook on Wednesday by journalists outside parliament in Islamabad, while various Islamic parties are also reported to be organising demonstrations.
Correspondents say that the internet is uncensored in Pakistan but the government monitors content by routing all traffic through a central exchange.
Justice Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court ordered the department of communications to block the website until 31 May, and to submit a written reply to the petition by that date.
An official told the court that parts of the website that were holding the competition had been blocked, reports the BBC Urdu service's Abdul Haq in Lahore.
But the petitioner said a partial blockade of a website was not possible and that the entire link had to be blocked.
The lawyers' group says Pakistan is an Islamic country and its laws do not allow activities that are "un-Islamic" or "blasphemous".
The judge also directed Pakistan's foreign ministry to raise the issue at international level.
In the past, Pakistan has often blocked access to pornographic sites and sites with anti-Islamic content.
It has deemed such material as offensive to the political and security establishment of the country, says the BBC's M Ilyas Khan in Islamabad.
In 2007, the government banned the YouTube site, allegedly to block material offensive to the government of Pervez Musharraf.
The action led to widespread disruption of access to the site for several hours. The ban was later lifted.
I feel a bit conflicted about this sort of thing. The biggest part of me is just disgusted by religion, again, for how stupid it can be. Why is it such a huge deal if non-Muslims draw Muhammad? Why do these particular people feel like everyone in the world has to comply with their beliefs? Then I wonder if I'm just being too much of a dick and think that perhaps my hatred for religion is making me blind to cultural differences or something.
But mostly, FUCK religions that try to apply their template to the rest of the world.
Why is it such a huge deal if non-Muslims draw Muhammad?
I think it has to do with the same reason that some people don't like people swearing in their house, because it's THEIR HOUSE, but can't do anything about it (and rarely care) if it's outside their property. The difference being that instead of just a house most religions seem to think it's their WORLD.
Course I could be totally wrong, but that makes sense to me.
I'm putting this in the Fucked up news because of the responses from people. The actual policy seems to be that students in the school district will be able to ask for and receive condoms without the school informing their parents. The general response and slant from every article I found about it seems to think the school is somehow encouraging the kids to go out and have sex. People are fucking morons! The kids are gonna have sex with or without the condoms. No kid is gonna turn down sex because they don't have a condom, that's where the trouble is starting. People are freaking out because the school didn't put an age limit on who could ask for condoms. If your 13-year-old is asking for condoms so he/she can have sex, guess what, they would have been having sex even if they couldn't get a condom.

I think the problem is more that a 5-6 year old can go get condoms >_>
I actually have a problem with this. I wasn't having sex when I was in middle school or elementary school, but the boy I was dating at the time was all for it; he kept trying to pressure me into it and I just laughed and said no, but it makes me wonder... if my school was giving out condoms, 1) the boy I was with would definitely have them, and 2) he'd be using them as a reason why we should have sex. I might have given in if my school was seeming to give the message of "Oh, well we can't stop it, why don't we give out the supplies necessary to get them?" If my school doesn't seem to care whether or not I'm having sex, whats the big deal? I think I might have actually been pressured into it if the environment around me wasn't saying "DON'T HAVE SEX UNTIL YOU'RE OLD OR MARRIED."
Texas has a huge problem with teenage pregnancies, but I feel that that's because Texas teaches an abstinent only method. I think that's retarded, kids should at least know about condoms... but handing them out if a kid goes and asks for them? That's a little too far for me.
Is there an age limit for when you can buy condoms from the store? If there is, why the heck would they be handing them out to young kids? Also, if there isn't, then let the damn kids go buy their own condoms. If they're not responsible enough to go buy condoms, they're not responsible enough to be having sex.
Am I the only one who thinks it's wrong to make condoms available to younger children?
I think its stupid to give them to them because they might want to experiment and see what they are for and simply because of how utterly ridiculous it is.
When I was in middle school, my only experiments with condoms were blowing them up and hitting them around. Which was really funny the night I had a friend over who was afraid of balloons.
I certainly wouldn't trade my job now, but 3 years ago, I'd jump on that, especially if I wasn't paying taxes on it. First, let me just say, I don't give a shit if someone wants to come to our country and hate us while taking advantage of all the great shit we give them, if they pay taxes. I'm all for opening up the borders with work visas and more ways to get people here on a temporary and LEGAL basis while they wait for the insanely long naturalization process. But when people say, "well, if you were willing to work for so little you could have those jobs too." They are full of shit. If I could erase my social security number and anonymously work for so little without paying 30-50% of it to the gov't, then it would be worthwhile. As it is, a tax paying citizen has to earn at least 50% more just to even compare the potential quality of life one would have on such wages.
EDIT: To complicate matters, I also believe we need to give refugee status to Mexicans who are coming from areas of extreme violence due to the drug cartels. Like towns that have regular clashes between the cartels and the police.
True. All in all most illegals make the same amount of money as citizens when taxes are taken into effect. Work is so hard to find at the moment for many people that they will resort to this, so maybe it was not the best idea to bring it to the attention of everyone an their brother.
I mean shit, I want to be a math teacher, one of the most economy proof jobs ever, and looking at how many governments around the US are reducing their teacher workforce is starting to look mighty scary to me.
Unless you were raised on an Indian reservation, you are the offspring of immigrants to some degree. Everybody needs to grow up and realize that immigrants can also have darker skin than their European counterparts and also come from poorer countries. But because they are seeking a better life, they are just as American as our grandparents were.
It's not quite the same; immigrants in the past have generally had to learn English (or relied on their children knowing English) in order to get a job and make money in America, whereas now it seems everywhere I go there's a Spanish translator or Spanish translation for the immigrants who have yet to learn English. I'm not saying that immigrants now don't bother to learn English; I'm just saying that it's far easier to get by without ever learning English than it used to be, and the benefits immigrants are getting now were not always so prevalent in America.
I don't have a big problem with it, personally. I had many illegal immigrant friends going to public school in Dallas, but it really bugged me when I talked to a few of their parents and found out they had been living in America for nearly 20 years without knowing more than a few words of English, getting along just fine.
I figure the problem won't be there as this generation grows up, because I haven't ever met a child of an immigrant who could not speak English. I'm not worrying too much about it, but what do I know?
I should not have to listen to everything in two languages, pay for their 7 kids to go to public school while they pay no taxes, have 3 families live in a home for one and thus crowd the ever loving hell out of every school I attended.
I should not go to school and see Mexican flags everywhere every single day instead of American flags, rubbing the fact that they should not be in America and are instead in our schools, while I PAY FOR IT.
Hit and runs occur every week in my neighborhood by some illegal or another, half the time drunk and the other half have been by people who never took a drivers test and have no insurance. We pay so much for these people to be here in public schooling, health care, welfare, etc. And in return they take jobs that could go to Americans and send the money to another country.
Yes, they do TAKE jobs. It is not that an American would not do it, or that they would not do it for the wage an illegal does. The "tax" issue keeps their wages higher because they are not paying 15-20% of each paycheck to the government, everything they make is pure profit. If an American took home that much after taxes hell yes they would clean up. Employers also keep their costs down because they do not have to match the person's taxes, thus actually rewarding them for hiring illegals. (Unless they get caught that is)
They are breaking the bank, Arizona finally had enough and I applaud them. California would be much better off if they did the same, alot of their deficit would disappear into thin air. Make no mistake, the south is under siege. The north tries to cry foul every time we try to protect ourselves, but they are hundreds of miles away from the issue and thus void their say. If the federal government would throw us a bone and enforce their own law then none of this would be an issue.

Also, I'm pretty sure the language issue is exactly how it HAS happened for quite some time. When European immigrants moved here, a great many of them moved into areas where other immigrants from the same places moved. That's why you'd have the Jewish part of New York and the Polish neighborhood, etc. And most of those first generation people could stay in that tiny block and live their whole lives not learning English. Then their children would be bilingual, and then their children would understand a bit of that language but mostly exist in English, and their children would generally be purely English-speaking. That doesn't seem much different from how it's going now, except that now we perhaps alienate those early generations a bit less and try to make their life tolerable.

I'd say those would call for some slaying.

Most definitely.

Don't move to Canada. You won't like it.
How do you have the strength to go on.
Just take it one day at a time.
