(Yes I know the title is bad, but I suck at titles. Sue me.)

There it is. Since I finally made a new comic, I finally made this topic. So... Go nuts!

    Oh, a wise guy, eh?

A new challenger has appeared! ... Okay, I know. That was horrible usage of that line. It won't happen again.

Based on Mega Man X: Command Mission. There's a scene where the group is looking in a factory for Zero, and they come across a pile of slashed up enemy mechaniloids. Axl comments that whoever did this (who is obviously Zero because he's the only other one in the building who would attack the defenses) must be tough, but still no match for him. To this I say, "Bullshit!"

Also, for a little bit of fun, somehow one of my text tails turned out like this while making the comic:

Hmm... No fans of Mega Man X here? Maybe this next one might be more entertaining...

    there is no post

Oh my, two weeks and only one person replied. Thats so sad....

Honestly, I can't think of anything to say in responce to the comics. They're good, just not amazing and no major problems to critique either. Unless you wanna get really nit-picky.

I figured that was the case.

Your sprites are too small. 16-bit sprites should always be shown at at least double size.
  • edited July 2006
You're the first person who has ever said that. But most of the time it just takes up too much room so there isn't enough for text, meaning the panel has to get bigger too and it makes a mess.
  • edited July 2006
Then you should fix that. In most of your panels in which the sprites are too small, there is a lot of empty space.

Just remember that a sprite comic is a comic. Most of your layouts seem to be based on video game screens, which is not a layout well-suited to a comic strip. You have the freedom in a comic to reposition sprites to be close to one another, cut out unimportant background, show only the important action.

Consider making your panels taller if you need more space for the writing.

So anything with 16 bit sprites is being considered "too small" in this case?
  • edited July 2006
No. Anything where the important parts of the panel are not easily seen is too small.
  • edited July 2006
Oh. Guess by that, I consider myself to have it just right then. *shrug* I mean, in the comic above, all the sprite's emotions are easily seen and there is plenty of room for the text, too.

Maybe I should find another example though. Eh. Too tired right now. But I'll keep all of this in mind when I make the next one.

I think the size is good for that comic.

Anyway, it's good :) I like, I like. And I look forward to the next one.

    Here it is:

Even without being able to make the references to my old (and dead) Yoshemon Magenta series, I think the "Christina sounds like a dying animal" joke is still clear.

Bonus points to those who remember how awfully effective the sound effect for Screech was back in the days of Red, Blue, and Yellow. I still can't see that attack named in any Pokémon game without involuntarily cringing.

Ouch. That screech hurt, a lot. [It was in yellow, too].

Heh, nice. I wouldn't lick her either. *gag*

I don't recall. *goes back and plays blue* OMFG!!!! oww! Good job.

It doesn't really bother me much.

Also, I heard a Christina Agulara song on the radio-I chuckled to myself.

I declare this your best comic so far!

Thanks guys. I'll try to get a new one out eventually. *goes off to slay the evil Writer's Block demon*

Also, if anyone's interested in participating in a fusion comic, join my forum and post when a good time for you is in this topic. (Sorry if that comes off too spammish, but it's easier for me if all the input is in one place.)

Now with the bigger panels and such that you guys wanted. Tell me what you think.

Yes! Chop it off! For SCIENCE!
  • edited September 2006
I'm pretty sure amphibians don't have external genetalia.
  • edited September 2006
    Damn
  • edited September 2006
Don't feel bad. Many of the best laid plans in history were undone by the lack of external genetalia on amphibians.

Yeah, but he's a humanoid amphibian and therefore I'm going to chase him down and chop if off... For SCIENCE!!
  • edited September 2006
That sounds vaguely like furry porn.
  • edited September 2006
Amphibians don't have fur. Besides, even if they were humanoid, they'd still have to have internal genetalia. The only reason mammals have external is because we produce body heat and that's bad for the sperm.
  • edited September 2006
Okay.. But in my comic's universe, Zepa has a wang so I can chase him down and try to chop it off. And besides, I'm sure if I asked him, he'd deny that his character is actually an amphibian at all. It's kind of a running joke with us where we call him a gecko, lizard, and stuff like that because he isn't one.

makes as much sense as all the other stuff in the world!
