I recall watching Harrison Ford in an interview say it himself. He may have been lying to cover an embarrassing situation, but I still tend to believe something I saw rather than read.

Oh, yes. That's a great reason to get your ass kicked and let your girlfriend get kidnapped: because you think sword fights are fun.

Jhonny, you're starting to sound like Fighter from 8-bit theater.

    8-bit whosit?

Well, I wasn't implying anything about the character's motivations, I'm just saying that it might be pretty fun to throwdown if you see a dude with a sword coming at you.

Can you honestly tell me you care about what happens to your virtual girlfriend? Does she really need to be in danger for you to want to cap virtual gangsters?

Red Steel is only a game, and hell it's not like you get to fight people with swords everyday, right, how about a change of pace? The developers probably knew that most people would use solely the gun and made the swordfighting bit so you could get some variety in and hack up some yakuza dudes.

Personally, I'd rather blow her spoiled little head off. But as for the character, it's stupid for a bodyguard to do such things. Hence the comic.

Turns out I'm not the only one with the "why does an American care about Japanese honor" argument, and you guys aren't the only ones with the Indiana Jones scene in mind:

People like sword fighting; it’s cool, right? Right?

At various points throughout the game, you will become utterly confused. Why, you ask? Well, as the bodyguard of the daughter of the most powerful Yakuza leader, it is expected that you would be very skilled with firearms and other such weaponry. What isn’t expected, however, is that you would use a sword as often as you do. Very early in the game, you find a sword just lying next to an elevator in an L.A. hotel (don’t look for the logic in it), and then a guy wielding a sword attacks you. Now, at this point, you have in your possession two different firearms (you can only hold two guns at a time), with a good amount of ammo, yet you put those away in order to fight this guy with a sword you just found. Why an American bodyguard would do such a thing, beyond trying to show off for his girlfriend (who isn’t even there), is beyond all sense of logic. Indiana Jones knew what to do when faced with a guy wielding a sword...and he was an archaeologist! So, why doesn’t a fully trained, professional bodyguard do the rational thing?

I have returned to poke more fun at Ubisoft's expense!

Now, I know there are reasons for not splattering cherry pie all over the wall, and I think they're bullshit. You can read them here, but be on the lookout for MILD SPOILERS if you decide to take a look.

Can I get a lock on this? My script for archiving had a hissy fit today, and I'll need to re-upload everything into the archive now. But there are a few things that won't go back up because I don't want to have them up anymore. That means most of the links in this topic will either be broken or link to the wrong image. I'd rather just start a new topic later when I'm finished then go around again and fix all these links. So if I can get this locked, that'd be great. Thanks in advance if you can.
