oh man, bundled with Wii sports, with boxing and bowling added to it.

Now I need to figure out how to put myself into a coma until november 19th.

I've been trying to figure out the recent trend by Nintendo of releasing their products in America before Japan. It just ocurred to me, they wait to see what could go wrong with the new product in America, and then fix it for the Japanese release.

Bowling Bowling Revolution! (pun) I'm sure it will be really fun with the new controller.

that sounds pretty sWiit, I don't think i'll ever get one, though, I'm not much of a gamer.

    Heh, I don't want a Wii.

If anything I can just play with god's Wii.

$250 would not have been considered 'cheap' last-gen. Especially for a system that can't compete technologically with its competitors. Oh, and extra Wiimotes are $40 each, and extra nunchucks are $20.

    I hate next-gen (and "new-gen").

That sounds so wrong, but all this news makes me not care. I'm definitly going to be getting some of those Wii Virtual Console NES games.

OMFG it's coming out in America first?!?!?!

Oh and also....I will then be going on to the orange belt using meh Wii!!!! For SCIENCE!

Actually, I believe the reason for launching some stuff in America first is because of imports.

While many Americans will import anything from the land of the rising sun, whether they can read it or not, the Japanese are a little different. They mostly fear games that are not made and distributed in their own country (X box 360 sells about 30 units a week, and you can ask Behemoth about when we went to get him a DS on the launch date of the 360).

Releasing such a widely anticipated system in Japan first would only cause a greater shortage of systems in Japan, as many would be going to America anyway. So, they might as well pacify the American hunger first.

Keep in mind Japan is still somewhat reeling from the popularity and shortages of DS Lites (I had trouble finding one, my host dad had to call in a favor in the Osaka electronics district, Den Den Town). They sell an average of 180,000 units a week. The second top selling unit, consoles and handhelds together, is the PSP at 40,000 units a week.

    Pacify the Americans first.

Rebuttal, for fun and because I'm a jerk, but also because I'm genuinely angry about this:

THE GAMECUBE VERSION OF THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: TWILIGHT PRINCESS HAS BEEN DELAYED AGAIN TO AFTER THE WII LAUNCH.

nononono! That's not what I needed to hear. I'm a fanboy.

EDIT: Oh wait...I read too fast... at least it's coming on Wii which I pray I'll get for christmas. But still, that sucks.

Really, they're just trying to get away with canceling the Gamecube version that people have been waiting two years for.
  • edited September 2006
It's sort of ironic that I agree.

Pre-ordered the Wii today ^_^ £20 deposit, and I'll be camping out at midnight.
  • edited September 2006
I heard most places won't let you preorder the Wii until they know for sure how much they're getting in stock, in order to avoid another XBox 360-type too many preorders thing.
  • edited September 2006
Golly-I haven't even though of pre-ordering yet. Where's the best place to pick one up?

    Edit:OMFG 100th post.
  • edited September 2006
    I did it at Gamestation
  • edited September 2006
I have 38,000 yen in my room (about $320 give or take) that I haven't converted back into US Dollars. I'm waiting for the exchange rate to get better in my favor. When it's better, I'll be preordering.

Twilight Princess will be wonderful at launch, and I hope it will last me until Metroid Prime 3 and the new Crystal Chronicles come out.

No, but that's just awesome.

Some 30 titles will be available at launch, including unnamed installments from the Donkey Kong, Zelda, and Mario franchises, with a total of 60 arriving by the end of the year.

I wonder if the Ocarina of Time would be available....but then again, I'd get Majora's Mask. Also-goodbye gamehunting! woo-hoo! (do you know how much #&^*ing NES games are overpriced?! That will fix that problem at least.)

I'm on a massive NES rom d/l kick right now. I owned most of the games at some point or they are Japanese, never released here. I can't believe I used to pay $0-50 for some of these games. I remember spending half a weeks's pay on MegaMan IV when it was new ($45, I was working for my dad over the summer).

Oh, ffs. I spent ages formatting that post to make it clear, and it messed up. sigh.
  • edited September 2006
Messed up? I was referring to the fact that the D.S. Lite was outselling the other one by so much-not the way you formatted it.
  • edited September 2006
The only thing that doesn't make sense is that the original is still selling at all. That doesn't typically take into account the used ones being sold. That means there are a ton of people still buying a new DS instead of just paying the extra $30 to get a Lite (and it's SO much better).

They must've updated the information. Here's what I had:
    http://cube.ign.com/articles/731/731939p1.html
In fact, an analysis of the Japanese videogame hardware sell-through up until the end of August, 2006, courtesy Enterbrain's F-ism marketing data service, shows that Microsoft's console has been outsold by Nintendo GameCube of all systems.

Microsoft has sold 75,837 Xbox 360 units in Japan in 2006 so far, according to Enterbrain's data. Nintendo, meanwhile, has sold 77,124 GameCubes during the same period

The only reason DSes are still selling is because Lites constantly sell out in Japan. If you're not an idiot, and you want to play Brain Age or whatever, then a DS works just as well as a Lite, especially if you can't find a Lite.
