Guitar Hero 3

edited March 2008 in Games
Who's got it? Who's planning on getting it? If you have it for the Wii, we need to rock out.

I've never owned a Guitar Hero game before, never owning a ps2 or 360. But now that its out for the wii, I can rock with the best of them! I'm pretty good for never owning the game as I played with my friends a lot. I'm undefeated so far online, but I've only played 5 matches...

I really like how theyre doing stat tracking on www.guitarhero.com You can even do cross console tournaments with it! You just play the song on your own, and it uploads your score. Higher score wins, regardless of console.

The art direction and animation are a step below gh2 honestly, Neversoft made this one instead of Harmonix, as Harmonix is working on Rock Band. This one certainly feels different, not as polished as 1 or 2, but its got a much better soundtrack and the online play is well implemented. So its still very solid. The new guitar feels awesome too. I'd highly recommend it.

I have it preordered for Wii, but I'm away from the store where I ordered it and I don't think I'll be picking it up until tomorrow afternoon, unless for some reason I leave my girlfriend's place early. =P

Looking forward to it. I think we're Wii friends already, so I'd love to get together and see what the online stuff has to offer. I too think that the song list looks a bit better than other incarnations, though there are some songs I will miss from GHII (Six, Possum Kingdom, Monkey Wrench).

You know if any company or something has any plans to make some sort of ps2-wii converter for the old guitar? That way I'll have two guitars to rock out with.
  • edited October 2007
I highly doubt it, as the Wii guitars use the Wiimote for their connectivity.

    Dag.

On the plus side, this should make the wii guitars cheaper than the 360 or ps3 ones, as they dont require any wireless or tilt equipment, its little more than a nunchuck with lots of plastic and a few extra buttons. Though since extra guitars aren't out yet, we don't know the price. They'll probably charge the same just because they can.

I got the 360 version, DLC FTW.

I also beat it on hard, just to unlock all the songs with minimal frustration.

    There is a PS2-GC converter.

    Could work

Through the Fire and Flames can go in a hole and fucking die.
  • edited October 2007
HAHAHA! I love that song! I can't wait to unlock it!!

EDIT: I should also mention that I'm kinda upset about how they did the crowd in the Wii version. There are a lot of people, but they are all comprised of about 4 different models multiplied across the screen. It looks really bad. Is that how the 360 version is?

What do they have up for download?

EDIT: By the way, 438201375250 is my Wii friend code. Post yours so I can add some people to my friends roster!

They should have used Miis for the crowd! Why didn't they?!

Actually, I'm going to have to ask my brother about that. He worked on the game.

    My Guitar Hero code is
    060244162231

    My Wii code is
    0148-0189-8148-2449

I wish they could just tie everything to your Wii code, would make this whole thing much easier.

Can you ask him why they didn't make you able to play the boss battles online with a friend? I'm rather fond of Tom Morello's.

Okay, I'll add it as soon as my brother relinquishes the guitar. Also, my code has been added to the "Friend Code" thread for posterity. I agree with you about the art direction, but I think that it's similar enough to the other versions to not really matter that much. And I'm really digging the guitar. I like it wireless and emitting sound and vibrating.

By the way, how does the stat tracking work with guitarhero.com? I've made a profile and linked my account, but it's still not showing any of my information.

    Is your Wii online?
  • edited October 2007
Playing it right now. I wonder if you have to turn it off and keep it on WiiConnect 24?
  • edited October 2007
No, it links dynamically. Usually within 5 minutes or so the stats update themselves. However, I think they've been having issues, so it may take awhile now. I know that this morning I could play a song, walk over to my computer, and refresh the profile and the stats would be updated.

It says my location is New York, so apparently they've been having location difficulties too. Consideirng the ambitions of the website though, its working relatively well for its first day live.

My roommate ordered the 360 version from Red Octane (why he didn't go to the store I don't know) so he'll hopefully have it today. I'd like to buy the Wii version, but at the moment I don't have the money.

    I just beat the game....

    BEST CREDITS EVAR!!!
  • edited October 2007
I added you, Illithid, but it stills shows up as pending.
  • edited October 2007
Better credits than portal? That's hard to believe.
  • edited October 2007
Yeah, I doubt that too. Though I havn't had the chance to beat the game yet. Portals credits are ace though. Got the mp3 on my ipod.
  • edited October 2007
What happens in the Portal credits?
  • edited October 2007
Youtube it if you wish to know! Its just a song, but its a hilarious, catchy song. Though you may need to have played the game to get some of the jokes.
  • edited October 2007
Oh my god Through the Fire and Flames is ridiculous. Illithid brought his copy of the game over. I will have to buy it myself sometime in the near future.
  • edited October 2007
If I can get past the intro, I can beat it easily. But that intro is just insane, even if I tape down the green button.

Double post of "I beat the game on Expert"

And I was hoping this would tide me over until Rock Band...
  • edited November 2007
Damn, Tak. I hear so much about how freakin hard the endgame is on Expert, especially TDWDTG. Congrats! Of course, you're not done. You need to get 100% on everything now. Even TtFaF.

AUGH!! The Lou battle on hard is totally kicking my ass. I can ALLLMOST get him, but then I just can't keep up. Urgh.
  • edited November 2007
Are you stacking your power-ups? That really helps.
  • edited November 2007
I finally beat him, after about 25 tries. I did stack power-ups too, but that's only part of the battle. I think it's 3 things: Getting enough attack notes, using the attack notes at the most advantageous times, and not dying through the streams and streams of really fast notes. It's hard to watch his side while still playing yours.

Damn, what a battle. I am not looking forward to it on expert when I eventually get there.

It's pretty tough, but it's pretty much just luck as long as you're good enough.
