Did you? That's good! George Orwell is an amazing author.
Of course, this is also good because our AP European History teacher is beginning his career as a bounty hunter to find anyone who has not read 1984 and to take away their high school diploma after he retires this year.

Gah!!!! I really need to find a copy of it. It's also been on my list for a long time.

I just need to improve my reading habits in general.

Well, I would also recommend Orwell's Keep the Aspidistra Flying if you liked 1984. I would describe it as a very similar approach to depicting a very different society. More importantly, it's just a good book.

I spent all day yesterday cleaning my whole damn apartment. I did all my laundry, made a bunch of trash runs, dusted everything (literally everything, Chinese air is damn dirty), and cleaned all my floors. This apartment looks awesome.

I bought a box of strawberry flavoured rips today (For the uninitiated: Rips are a brand of cigarette papers that come on a roll so you can tear them to the required length) and ended up rolling a foot long cigarette just because I could.

I think it was pretty cool!

I finished the book I was reading Thursday night after our annual Thanksgiving fire. The fire was less tall but no less hot than previous years. Nice to have a bit of snow on the ground this year. The book was #13. Now just gotta wait for #14 which should be the last of the series.

    WHOA.

If you want to get me anything for Christmas, that would be it.

The game I've been programming for a month and a half is finished! It turned out pretty well for what I was trying to accomplish!

    Success! Can we play it?
  • edited December 2010
Here's the exe You'll need a version of visual studio to run it, I believe.
  • edited December 2010
Yeah, it wouldn't run at all in Wine and when I tried to run it in a VM it kept complaining about missing DLLs.
  • edited December 2010
Sad, I can't run it either, was hoping having VB 2005 would let me. Ah well, I'm sure it's pretty awesome anyway though (Ya know, despite not knowing anything about it), just package it with all the files needed to run it and it's sure to be a #1 hit.
  • edited December 2010
Ok, here's a .zip with the exe and the dependencies it uses. that should be all it needs.

Still says something about not finding "MSVCP100D.dll".

Judging by the other files packaged in, having VB 2005 should have let me play this; That's really weird. I just wish I knew what that missing file was, it might be something that's REALLY useful to have.

Edit: OPP, I'm not alone. This makes me feel as if my computer sucks slightly less.

It's still giving me errors saying that MSVCP100D.dll wasn't found.
  • edited December 2010
I guess you need Visual Studio Express 10 to run it.

Microsoft has it on their website for free if you're really desperate to play it.

I'll probably go pick it up later, as of now I'm lazy.

Bought a new phone in Hong Kong! I am the happy owner of a Samsung Galaxy S.

The Galaxy S is great, good choice.

It may be a small matter, but I got my copy of Windows 7 working despite not having my disk. I am pleased. Also I have a lot of updates and setup to work on now.

    Yay, Windows 7!
  • edited December 2010
    Agreed, it's a fantastic OS.

Counter Point! Every computer crashes because every OS sucks.

For the record I'll still mostly be using Vista since a couple games I rather like playing aren't compatible with Windows 7. But I can legitimately use Windows 7 otherwise if I wish.

I'm heading up to the big smoke for New Years. Going to see my friends and get spectacularly drunk and barbecue lots of meats.

I'll be gone for anywhere between 1 and 2 weeks. So I probably won't be here much, although I will try and drunkenly yell about partying hard enough to kill normal people when I can.

    For SCIENCE!
  • edited December 2010
We'd be pretty disappointed if you partied hard but neglected to do it for SCIENCE. But we know you're a better person than that. Have fun!

The past 44 hours have consisted of me driving 3 hours to a recording studio, spending 36 hours straight in said studio and then driving home again, all with a 2 hour nap on the couch before driving the 3 hours home. I would call my getting home a major SUCCESS!!!

I got a date for New Years Eve. Yay!

Ok, so, i got a new phone and new phone number about 3 years ago. The previous Verizon customer with my number got himself on some pharmaceutical company's list and just never bothered to update his contact info for a variety of things. We'll call him John Smith to protect his identity. A while back one of the callers tried to confirm that I really wasn't John Smith by asking, "you're not John Smith of #XX street of Y-Town?"

So, tonight, I got a gas leak call for Mr Smith at #XX street in Y-Town. So, I took the opportunity to explain to him what has been going on and that he needs to update his contact information.

    That IS awesome.
