Well it wasn't just one dude though. The leader was assassinated and then they blew up all of the factories to stop the drug dealy being distributed to the masses.

Farenheit 451 was banned? We had to read that for English class four years ago.

It was also one of the worst books I've ever read, but everyone else seems to like it, so maybe I was just distracted. Or maybe my English teacher was trying to hard to make up symbolisms and having us memorize them.

The comon theme would be "banned books". The story was about books being banned. the actual book itself isn't banned, just the imaginary books within the story, within the book.

Equilibrium was amazing from start to finish.

Oh yeah, riiight, I remember that now. Thanks for the refresher.

I like when Taye Diggs' face was sliced off.

I liked it when he killed half a dozen people to save a puppy.

I didn't remember the factory part.

Still, ninja sword and white suit.

    GODZILLA FINAL WARS

    PEOPLE

I HAVE NOT SEEN IT YET EVERYBODY MUST WATCH IT 'WITH' ME

It is directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, who directed the cutscenes for the Gamecube Metal Gear Solid remake. Godzilla got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a promotional appearance for this movie.

Is it hard to obtain? If I can get it, I'll watch it 'with' you.
  • edited April 2006
I am all about the inclusion of Godzilla movies.

At some point we'll be watching the original as well.
  • edited April 2006
Though Netflix has a normally extensive library, I can't find the original Godzilla anywhere. Oh well, it's worth owning.
  • edited April 2006
Maybe they've yet to embrace black and white film?

I would have thought that would be one they'd definitely have.
  • edited April 2006
Damn, I missed all the book talking. I should get up earlier!

yeah, if you can, try to also get destroy all monsters, that one kicks ass. and i suppose if you can, get godzilla vs. hedora (godzilla vs. the smog monster), only because he flys by shooting his atomic breath at the ground in that one

NEWS UPDATE: Mario was awesome enough to make this excellent schedule page which covers the rest of the year and the start of the next so far.

    Any comments/suggestions are welcome.

I am so excited about Deathrace 2000 and Santa's Slay that it's not even funny.

by king kong do you mean the original, the one from the 70's, or the peter jackson one?
  • edited April 2006
I think that's supposed to be the original.
  • edited April 2006
The very original, but you should always feel free to include differences in the remakes (as was briefly touched upon with Dawn of the Dead). I'll add the rest of the Amazon links later.
  • edited April 2006
Yeah, unless otherwise stated we'll be watching the originals.

But getting any remakes out at the same time is good for comparison discussion. Just don't feel obligated to do so if you don't want to.

Stef and I ran to Fry's last night and found a copy of Santa's Slay! We're stoked. I know Christmas may seem pretty far away right now, but I'd suggest that anyone interested in this film pick it up as soon as possible. Here's the Amazon link. It's a low-profile sort of film, so there's no telling how long we'll be able to find it on the shelves.

...I checked this list. ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT IT DOESN'T HAVE KUNG POW?! It is quite clearly the best film in the french aliens vs. talking tongue genre, and you failed to include it...
  • edited May 2006
When I realised the list had filled a good six months I stopped adding to it.

Remind me in six months time.

You're... not serious. We'll watch bad movies to a certain extent, but they have to actually contain redeeming qualities.
  • edited May 2006
    Haha. That's a role reversal.

Since when do I have the diplomatic answer and Mario the mockery?
  • edited May 2006
Hey, your answer was good too. Kung Pow: Enter The Fist is just too lame to be worthy of the SCIENCE! title. Like, WAY too lame.
  • edited May 2006
=O My goodness! How can you not like Kung Pow? It is an excellent comedy film, with a nice mix of farce and witty one-liners!

it is a good movie, but not in a SCIENCE!ey way.
  • edited May 2006
I agree, I enjoy the movie, but a man getting hit in the crotch upwards of 15 times is not SCIENCE!!y enough.

Which pretty much eliminates all of the Ben Stiller movies ever made.
  • edited May 2006
And we can all be grateful for that.
