    Especially Dodgeball.

What about Meet the Fokers? Does frying foreskin count as crotch-wacking?
  • edited May 2006
It counts as "that movie is also lame".

    =O Goodness

hmmm.. mario has just showed me the glory of your little movie posse. and i must say, hell yes. And I must throw a couple of suggestions out there:

Soldier (actually not too bad, just kurt russely goodness. It's either Soldier or Big Trouble in Little China, or Escape from New York...)
    Sabretooth (Just read the taglines.)

and how is Chuck and the Chair not on the list? I mean Mario's in it.
  • edited June 2006
Chuck and the Chair is not yet available at your local video rental facility! Get on the ball already, BBQ Bacon Productions! I need to be able to show off my fine acting abilities for my résume slash portfolio!
  • edited June 2006
I didn't know mario was in the moving picture industry!

PS: In the trailer, which one are you? And PPS: What genre is this? It seems like a comedy and a drama at the same time.
  • edited June 2006
    Volkswagen Eurovan? Eew.

    Good lookin' movie, though.
  • edited June 2006
It's a comedy that gets serious at the end. Like most comedies.

I'm Dexter, the Magic: The Gathering-playing guy. I'm hardly in the trailer though; as I recall, I'm trying to shove Magic cards in Chuck's face when the Van Of The Future crashes, just for a second or two. I also recall my name being spelled wrong in the trailer credits. I haven't seen the final version of the movie yet, so I can only hope this was fixed in the end.
  • edited June 2006
Also: That trailer made me think of Brokeback mountain since its in the same style as it, the clips interspersed with deep meaningful captions.

EDIT: So you're in the film, yet are not in the trailer, and your name is spelt wrong.

Ah well, I still wanna see it, can't you get a few DVDs pressed for Orange Belters to buy? I want it!

I'll assume it was made in iMovie HD?
  • edited June 2006
Hardly! This was a pro job! As in Final Cut Pro. This weren't no half-assed kid's home movie project.

Like I said, I am in the trailer, for a second or two. Pay attention!

I don't know what the status is of DVD-pressing, but I'm sure you could work something out with the creators. Paul is one of them.
  • edited June 2006
Yeah, I went through the trailer frame by frame. Here is the best shot I could find of you.

PS: For orangebeltians, couldn't you just press a few home DVDs for instant selling?
  • edited June 2006
Final Cut Pro? That stuff is hard. I had to edit a mockumentary I made in class using Final Cut Pro, and it took forever. Today I went on to add captions to my friend's voice, because he talks to quiet, and my entire timeline was gone for some reason. I had to import an older version and make up all the work that got deleted.

However, you can do some pretty neat stuff in Final Cut. Also, how long is the movie?
  • edited June 2006
It says feature length, so I'd assume 90 minutes-ish

    1. yes, in theory... last i heard the dvd was still under construction, I'd say ask Paul if it's done, but he's sick of being harassed about it, so he's likely to stab you in the face if you do. I have a preliminary copy with no special features on it, but the menu looks awesome.

    2. don't insult me. while iMovie is a decent program, it is for cowards and the weak of heart. (j/k imovie, you know i love you.) (That, and a project with over 50 miniDv tapes and 40 minidiscs of audio would cause imovie to pee its pants.)

and finally, if we made the entire movie out of the original script, it would have been around 2:45 I'm guessing... not exactly comedic in length... it's actually around 2 hours, 2:05 with credits if i remember right...

introducing: tech support, brought to you by geoko.
it sounds like you probably either changed sequences or deleted a sequence. to start, hit control-U to bring up the standard window configuration, double check that a window didn't go flying off on you. Then check your bin (top left window) for any sequences and double click them. (they're yellow and blue boxes in pro, i don't remember what their icon looked like in expresses imovie looking bin...) If it's there, that sould fix it. If you accidentally deleted it, you'd have to go to an older version. In which case, all I can say is make the autosave more frequent under you preferences (i have mine set to 5 minutes, the default is 30.) Yay not working for a certain ipod making company () anymore so I can actually post stuff like this and not be in violation of any nondisclosure agreements!

Enough nonsense talk! Time for a SCIENCE! update! All sorts of movies were shifted around, in order to make accomodations for the following:

    The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai
It Came From Beneath the Sea
    Severed
    Logan's Run
    Alien
    Ghostbusters
    Matrix
    12 Monkeys
    Reanimator
Little Shop of Horrors (musical version)
    Back to the Future

As far as that last entry goes, it's actually the entire trilogy. That's right, mark your calendar (unless you subscribe to the iCal entry, in which case I've marked it for you): the week of July 24th is hereby proclaimed "SCIENCE! Week", and we're celebrating with a classic trilogy if ever there was one! We decided to pick something mainstream enough that people have likely already seen it, so if three movies in one week is too intense for you, you don't have to worry about it all that much.

As usual, feel free to suggest additions to the lineup.

That's a pretty good list of mainstream-style additions! I am going to HELLA PARTICIPATE in SCIENCE! week. I have very special feelings for the Back to the Future trilogy.

And re: you being in a movie, does everyone have to be cooler than me? Seriously, can't you guys stop living interesting lives and accomplishing things? You're making me feel bad. Not that that's hard.
  • edited June 2006
What about Star Wars IV-VI trilogy? I think that would make for a decent SCIENCE!! week as well.
  • edited June 2006
I concur! Perhaps we'll have to schedule more than one SCIENCE! Week per year? Or at least watch those during next year's SCIENCE! Week.

I'm only slightly cooler than you, because I use Linux. If you used Linux, you could close the gap.

Why not Episodes I-III? They're not bad either...
  • edited June 2006
But we were talking about trilogies, and the IV-VI trilogy was much better.
  • edited June 2006
Aw man, you guys talk about movie making and I miss it! (I make movies you see. Though not with Final Cut Pro, that program scares me. Adobe premiere pro all the way!)

Anyway, I am excited for the back to the future week. I love those movies and could use an excuse to actually get them.
  • edited June 2006
Adobe Premiere Pro was meh-ish. And it didn't work with my old composite capture card...

Final Cut FTW! (And iMovie as Vice-FTW)

    Avid in da HOOOOUUUUUUUSSSSSSEEEEE
  • edited June 2006
Hey, we should watch The Final Cut! It's about a person who makes movies about peoples' lives (which were recorded throughout their entire lives.) when they die.
  • edited June 2006
Isn't that with Robin Williams? I heard that's a great movie.
  • edited June 2006
Yeah, the guy who played Jesus is in it too.
