I like the way you think, but If it's not The Long Piece, it's the wrong piece.

And as for Plok, why don't we just build a whole game out of second-tier platformer mascots?

AERO THE ACRO-BAT VS. BUBSY THE BOBCAT VS. GEX VS. well... Punky Skunk is more like eightieth-tier but I really want to include PUNKY SKUNK anyway.

...actually, I'd like that. Let the forgotten Sonic-alikes battle for some nominal amount of modern relevance!

Um, I think we're all forgetting Awesome Possum...

According to video game lore, he kicks dr machino's butt.
  • edited June 2006
But can a possum really be all that awesome? All they do is get hit by cars.

Even a Super Dynamic Possum of Tomorrow™?

ESPECIALLY a Super Dynamic Possum of Tomorrow™

the bee from a link to the past should be an item!
  • edited June 2006
The fire and ice wands would make good items too.

    Kuribo's Shoe!

They should just scrap the whole Smash Bros. thing and use the budget to make a Kuribo's Shoe based game. I love that shoe.

OMG, YES. THE SHOE SHOULD BE AN ITEM.

If you want low-tier platforming characters, you can't get much lower than Bronky the Bronchaiosaurus.

Isn't that a PC game about asthma or something?
  • edited June 2006
I played it on SNES, but pretty much. The game is literally impossible to finish in single-player mode!
  • edited June 2006
Come now, literally impossible is a bit much, don't you really mean metaphorically impossible?

Having played Bronkie (though not to the 'end'), I totally believe that the game was so poorly designed that it is literally not possible to play the game to its intended point of completion.

Oh, and I never forget Bronkie.

Yes, I was being perfectly serious about the 'literal part'. There's an expanse that you can't jump by yourself; you have to get player 2 to catapault you there, so it's simply unbeatable by yourself.

    That's stupid...

IT'S A PLATFORMING GAME, STARRING ANTHROPOMORPHIC DINOSAURS, THAT ATTEMPTS TO TEACH KIDS ABOUT ASTHMA BY PENALIZING CONTACT WITH AIR POLLUTANTS IN GAME, SUPPLEMENTED OF COURSE BY LOTS OF TEXT ABOUT ASTHMA. No part of the game could be anything but stupid.
  • edited June 2006
Heh, you forgot to mention how the game penalizes you. The more health you lose, the darker the screen becomes (symbolizing the dust that is slowly covering the Earth). Once you get to 1/3 health or so, the game is virtually unplayable. Talk about intuitive game design!

So the dinosaurs became extinct because of asthma?

Smash bros needs nothing more than Rad Gravity.

Oh, and for those of you who would like to join me on box strike, in anticipation of the smashetry:

EDIT: uploaded the wrong one, **fix'd**

    Ahhhh.... That's better...

And on a realated note - anybody down for some mad smashetry? I just got a 52 inch TV and Smahing is now GLORIOUS!!! I totally need to issue a smash bros challenge, with one rule. Mario can't play as Link or Pikachu.
  • edited June 2006
I accept your conditions. But since when did I play as Pikachu? I gave him up when I moved on from the N64. I won't be hurtin' too much from a lack of Link though. You know what they say:

"Game and Watch! Game and Watch! Game and Watch!"
