I had a dream a couple nights ago where a couple large tortoises were roaming through my yard. There was a sizeable and oddly very hemispherical pit in the yard for some reason and they were crawling through it. They were surprisingly mobile in hindsight, but regardless I and some relatives that were there for no apparent reason went out to watch them. A helicopter was watching their progress from overhead. We didn't touch them, just watched. They were quite big. In fact I think they were growing. Everytime I looked back at them they were bigger than before, though this didn't register in the dream.
Then there was a GIANT sea turtle crawling up the driveway. It was destroying the fences and ruining a lot of trees in the process. It didn't get far before it abruptly turned a 180 (causing more havok) and crawled away. The other 2 turtles (now the size of trucks) followed it.
Hooray? I was waiting for the horses to escape through the downed fence, but then out of nowhere there was an even larger scorpion/lobster thing in the driveway. It was a wierd sort of light blue color and very fast moving. whatever damage the sea turtle was doing paled in comparison to this. It was spinning in circles and digging the ground up, ripping up fence and knocking down and even grinding up trees under its many feet.
I ran into the house and into the basement for cover along with a bunch of others. They weren't my relatives anymore though. They could have been people out of movies. After cowering for a bit, waiting for the inevitable house-smashing that never came, I went upstairs to investigate. The big thing was gone but the whole area in front of the house was all dug up and there was some big half-dome shelter thing and an endless number of large crabs outside.
We were being sieged by sea creatures of the depths it seemed, except on land. There was a period here where I have an even more vague memory of talking to a bunch of the strange people in the house that wasn't like my own anymore. Then there were zombies outside in addition to the crabs. They weren't stereotypical zombies. There was something odd about them but I forget what. I woke up around that point.
Does anybody else get strange monster-movie type dreams?
I had a crazy dream last night where I was at my school for the first day of school and I was in the locker room and for some reason, I didn't have my P.E uniform to change into.( I'm getting a new one when school starts since my old one is a little too small for me now.)Anyway, I was running around the school in my underwear. I then sprayed some Axe on me and girls started chasing me like in the Axe commercials. I jumped on a motorcycle and drove all the way to the high school and got off the motorcycle and ran towards a locker room only that didn't do me any good since I was in the girls locker room. I hid in a clothes basket and then some hot chicks who were all blondes came in and were changing into their P.E uniforms and I somehow tripped and fell out of the clothes basket and the girls started chasing me and I started singing Backstreet Boys songs and I started running when I was done singing only one of the girls blocked the exit and I then passed out, but thankfully, Everyone from the Orange Belt rescued me. For some reason, All of you were monkeys.
Rest assured our race will have killed ourselves off loooooong before this happens, so for all intents and purposes we will have 24 hour days for as long as it is relevant.
Not only that, but eventually the Earth and Moon will always face each other on the same side. As I understand it, this process will take billions of years, and would likely take longer than the Earth itself will be habitable due to the eventual death of the Sun.
Would the moon moving away from the earth cause the earth to rotate any slower? I was under the impression that the length of our days was caused by the earth's rotation, and not the moon's proximity to us.
The length of our days is affected by the moon's gravitational pull, which is stronger the closer the moon is to us. When our planet first formed it had a certain amount of angular momentum due to the process of formation, but when two objects orbit each other their gravity causes them to become tide-locked. The moon is already tide-locked with us (which is why it always has the same side facing us) but since the Earth has significantly more mass it still has much of its initial momentum. Given enough time, however, any two bodies in orbit will become tide-locked with each other and have their rotational periods equal their orbital periods.
I dreamed last night about a zombie invasion, and I and my friends were desperately trying to escape. But it was a very annoying escape because every time we got to a new potential base, I had to pee. My friends were getting irritated because we were trying to survive. Then after a while I woke up and really had to go to the bathroom.
heehee. Once when I was younger I had a dream I was at home and I REALLY needed to go to the bathroom, so I went to the bathroom and sat on the toilet..... and woke up when I realized I was still in a dream and wasn't actually fit to be peeing at the moment. Most annoying dream I've ever had evar.
In an unrelated note, I had I think the most uncomfortable, sad and unfortunate nightmare I've ever had in my life last night. Too uncomfortable to share here. Let me tell you though; it sucked. I'm pretty sure I woke up enough to get out of that particular dream, but every dream I had for the rest of the night, I was still thinking about what had happened. And I don't even remember my dreams most of the time! It's usually only the particularly bad dreams that I end up remembering.
Panda, I have that dream every morning. The problem is, in the dream, I can never pee, and I keep looking for a toilet. And I sit on the dream toilet, and then I "pee", but when I get up I still have to go. It's bogus.
I dreamt the other night that my brother-in-law was raising rabbit embryos in a wet sheepskin pack on his stomach. He stuck one to me, and then got caught up in the Mic Jagger Memorial Rally at the Art gallery. But when I found my sweetie, I stuck it to him so I wouldn't have the slimy rabbit babies against me. When I saw sweetie's sister, she had a rabbit embryo pack stuck to either side of her pregnant belly.
You know that stage when you're lying in bed, when you're not really awake but not fully asleep either?
I was lying in my bed the other night, slowly falling asleep, when I half dream some gruff, deep voice right above my bed. My bed is against a corner but underneath a window, and I jumped out of bed and freaked the hell out. I could not figure out for the life of me if I dreamed it or actually heard it. Logically, it could not have happened, because I'm on the 3rd floor of my building and someone at my window wouldn't be able to hold on outside. And the supposed voice technically came from the area of wall right next to the window.
I couldn't get it out of my head though, felt so goddamn real, even though I couldn't remember what it sounded like or what was said. All I had was residual terror, with nothing to associate it with. It sucked, I couldn't fall asleep for another hour after that.
Last night I had an extremely vivid and coherent dream. I haven't had those a lot recently, but Ryan just reminded me what happened.
Apparently me and a bunch of people I know were living in this "new state". Not really sure where it was, but the important thing was that it was totally controlling... one of those fictional states where everything you do is controlled to make sure that there's peace and harmony... of course, it was blown up to ridiculous levels. Only certain types of music, utterances, actions, behaviors, things like that.
Anyway, we were all trying to get the hell out of this place and go back to the USA. So we were all packing our stuff very nervously... we were going to have to smuggle ourselves out of this place. So we're all chatting about it, getting ready, when this loud "forbidden" music starts playing... we all freak out as it's going on and we can't stop it for a while... luckily we get it to stop before the "enforcers" or whatever saw us.
The dream skipped over how we actually got out... I think it may have been a plane or something... but finally we landed in the USA. The plane landed right next to a beach and everyone was being loud and listening to music and partying and just having a good time.. and I started crying right there because I was FINALLY in a place again where I could do whatever I wanted and anyone could say whatever and there wouldn't always be some government force watching over my shoulder and regulating my every action.
I don't really know why I had this dream... but it's weird.

Not sure it's totally true as I always thought it was related to sleep paralysis not completely affecting the bladder, but it seems logical enough.

It was crazy.
