It's a pretty apt metaphor. Except that zombies have more mass appeal than their respective careers usually do.
Zombie movies day 4! The Mad, starring Billy Zane. Another cheesey actor you just don't see enough of. In this one infected burger meat turn people into ravenous zombies. Because SCIENCE! Also starring Maggie Castle from Todd and The Book of Pure Evil.
Zombie movie day 5! Wasting Away (aka Aaah! Zombies!!). This is a good twist on the normal zombie comedy, as the main protagonists are zombies themselves. The use of black & white to represent reality and colour to represent zombie perception is particularly effective as well. Definitely worth putting into your horror rotation.
Zombie movie day 6! Another one from the perspective of the Zombies : DeadHeads. This has slightly more of a roadtrip movie to it, interspersed with zombie action. Still, it works pretty well and has some great characters.
I woulda said...there's a list on wikipedia. That's an incomplete list only including films with "non-low budgets".
I feel like it'd be interesting to make a chart with that data showing the number of zombie movies released each year or something and try to track the popularity of zombies over time or something.
They're playing pretty fast and loose with the definition of 'zombie' there. I'm seeing a lot of demon movies. And Frankenhooker? I don't think so.
Pretty interesting list though. I've only skimmed part of it so far, and other than having watched way too many movies, I'm finding some new names to look into.
Zombie movie day 7! Going with another zombie comedy - Last of the Living. It was made in New Zealand, so the accents inherently make it funnier. All round good zombie flick, with a surprisingly dark ending considering the general tone of the rest of the movie.
That trailer is good at spoiling the whole movie while simultaneously not really telling you anything at all. I didn't think that was possible, but I see I was mistaken.
Yeah, it was pretty bad. But it's pretty much the only one I could find.
What you also don't get from that trailer is the awesome/terrible dialogue.
Time for another weird indie movie. Pirates of The Great Salt Lake. This movie is really weird in parts. Also a lot darker than the trailer would suggest. I liked it though.
You like that, huh? In that case enjoy Airborne. Rollerblading to prove your worth as a person. Featuring Seth Green as tiny and weird. As well as some early Jack Black. This movie is a spectacular example of early 90's WTFness.
You might like to add Out Cold to the list. Starring Jeremy London, David Koechner, Zach Galifianakis and a bunch of people that you will probably recognise.
A movie that will teach you the lessons that all problems in life can be solved via partying and shenanigans.
Back to horror. Stitches, the delightful tale of a vengeful undead clown. Played admirably by Ross Noble (thus far, mainly known for his stand-up comedy) and featuring some of the most creative kills I've seen in a long time.
This movie is pure fun. Unless you're afraid of clowns, I guess.
Clowns just want a little love. And a whole lotta murder.
Today we have The Brass Teapot. A couple acquires the titular brass teapot, which will dispense cash when you hurt yourself. Surely nothing could go wrong there.
Today we have The Brothers Bloom. An odd little caper-comedy with an amazing cast. It does really well to keep you guessing all the way through and it has a very satisfying ending.
Also Adrien Brody should be in more movies, he is a spectacular actor.

Several years worth of terrible.... Redneck Zombies anyone? Or Special Dead?

Oh yeah, this week of films were based on the basic assumption that you've already seen George A. Romero's Night, Dawn, Day of the Dead, Peter Jackson's Brain Dead/Dead Alive , Return of the Living Dead and Shaun of the Dead at the very least. If not, you now have plans this weekend.

EDIT: Dude played Manny in Scarface, and the trailer brags that he was in Thief of Hearts instead? God the 80s were fucked up.

So today is apparently International Talk Like A Pirate day. Soooooo.... Pirate movies!
Yellowbeard!
And to cover all bases: Space Pirates in The Ice Pirates
