Online play will be depressing if they remove Pichu. I can't just be Ness and Mario!
  • edited June 2007
I really don't see them removing any characters, but who knows. Fighting games tend to just add and add characters without removing any, don't they?
  • edited June 2007
They hinted that they'd remove a few of the 'clone' characters, but none of the original lineup.

    Jigglypuff is safe...

If the Ice Climbers are in SSBB, prepare for trouble.

Make that double, y'know, since there are 2 of them.

It's a different game. Why not think about trying some different characters?

    PIIIIIIIIIIIT!
  • edited June 2007
I'm pretty sure he replaced the ice climbers.

Also, the OoT medley is awesome, but too bold to be background music. Maybe it'll be for something like Melee's credits music?
  • edited June 2007
Melee's credit music used songs from battle modes. I think it sounds like pretty fun music to battle to, actually. Who knew you could make the Song of Storms sound epic?
  • edited June 2007
    Is the music orchestrated?

It's nice to know that songs that I play almost every day will be in there!

I'm happy for banana peels, but disappointed at the lack of eyes on said banana peels...

Maybe this thread should have a big ol' [SPOILERS], just in case.

    Spoiling what? Features?

I got an angry email yesterday for spoiling the beginning of Metroid Prime 3.
  • edited June 2007
This thread needs no spoiler marker because it's a discussion thread for my blog, discussing publicly-available game information from another blog (and mirrored across every gaming blog on the Internet, up-to-the-minute).

Also, are basic game design aspects really spoilable? Is it even possible to spoil something like Smash Bros. with no story?

hey mario^_^ sacramento wants to know if u play melee...and how good you are^_^
  • edited July 2007
Ooh. Assist trophies look cool. Kinda like pokeballs, but with all of Nintendo's characters.

Also: hey deku...while Brawl isn't out wanna play Melee?^_^ where u from?

..Unless Warppipe suddenly works with Melee, (Which it doesn't. Though I think there are pc emulators that can play melee online.) I don't see how we could play Melee.

He's trying to get everyone into some sort of Smash Bros.-centric online meetup system to find local players. I'm not interested, personally.

its called the Global Smasher Compendium...you can get it here: http://www.smashwiki.com/wiki/GSC Its a "player finder" for smash bros games...the largest one there is in fact. It shows the locations of players all over the world as well as popular tournament venues all on a 3D interface. an if u want you can use it without joining it...just to see where all the smashers are around your area(altho i recommend joining to get the most use out of it)

as for Melee online...here is how(but i dont have the setup to do it myself): http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=4301

EDIT: also, perhaps we could meet in person to play melee? I'm from northern California. Most cali ppl i meet online are from socal, so if you are from socal as well then perhaps we could meet at EVO West or OC3

I'm all for playing a round of smash bros. with my friends, but not so much on the meeting people online to play with. Why don't we wait til brawl comes out?
  • edited July 2007
Brawl and Melee are completely different games. One doesn't replace the other. And I've been meeting people online and travelling to melee tournaments since 2004, so I've gotten used to meeting people online.

Anyway tho, if you only play with your friends how do you know where you stand as a player^_^. I played SSBM since it came late in 2001 and played with my friends most of the time, but then late in 2004 I travelled about an hour from home to Concord and that travelling gave the game an whole new life of fun for me and I've been doing it ever since.

(I guess it was the "arrogant smash bros. player" in me that convinced me to make that first step into travel^_^)

I can wait for the next game. At which point I'll usually just play against my friends and forumites anyway. ^_^

Those assist trophie screenshots are going to fool a lot of unlucky noobs!
  • edited July 2007
I suggest giving up on recruiting smashers here, SiS. No one seems interested.
  • edited July 2007
    lol yeah i can imagine@agentcel

MrCheeze: the Global Smasher Compendium is for anyone who play smash bros. there is no skill level requirement or anything. You just have to play the games...if you don't play the games that much then feel free to not join. Its not really recruiting that I'm doing, just spreading the word. I hope the people who play the games join and expect the people who don't to not...that's all

    Woo, Bowser's back!

I think they made him bigger in this game. He looks cool for the most part, and a little more menacing than the old game.
I don't like what they did with his feet. They look squished or something.
  • edited July 2007
Hahaha, his Final Smash is Giga Bowser Transformation! I think we've jumped a shark here, and I love it.
  • edited July 2007
I think it's funny how when someone gets a final smash, all of a sudden it's them vs everyone else >.>.

Bowser just became a character I might use for once.

I'd like to see four Giga Bowsers go at it at once, if it's possible to set the only item as Final Smashes!

I think they've said previously that only one Final Smash appears per battle. It probably doesn't count as an item (so I hope I can independently disable it as well ^_^).
