I seem to be late to the "bash the UN party". (I enjoy the metaphor embedded in my statement.)

So basically, ditto to what Khan said, UN needs to shut up as much as possible, and also congratulations to him for smoking and drinking. This shows coolness.

Also, congratulations to me for congratulating UN. This shows sarcasm.

Bah, Canada sucks. And not for stupid-American-knee-jerk-reaction reasons, but because it fails to live up to any expectations given a braggart second-rate-socialist country with no distinct culture other than "not America".

Yes, but one must not forget the $1 billion dollar+ exchange of goods that happens between Canada and America per day. No two other countries in the world exchange more goods a year than Canada and America. Other countries trying to form symbiotic relationships with each other look at the Canada/America relationship as a model.

Now CanadIANS, those are funny people.

You know what else are awesome models of symbiosis? Lichens, that what.

We'll secrete the rock destroying acids and give you a home, and you do the nutrient fixing! Everyone wins!*

*not entirely sure how lichens work.

i thought i told you never to speak of him again!
  • edited March 2006
There are four major groups of lichens, based on structure (foliose: leafy; fruticose: bushy; squamulose: scaly; crustose: crusty). All of them are colonies of symbiotic organisms: either a fungus (an ascocarp, specifically, which is something like a mushroom with an upside-down cap) with a cyanobacteria OR a fungus with an algae. The fungus provides structure and protection for the colony, and the cyanobacteria/algae provides food via photosynthesis.

    The more you know!

Tori Amos is obviously a fan of Tori Amos. There! Everyone's questions are answered!

    I'm surprised Jakey didn't answer a fungus-related question.

Perhaps he was already preoccupied with fungi in general.

your still not answering my question

Just because I want me some mushroom love doesn't mean I know how the damn things work.
