I think they're planning on it, given all the internet stuff they've already set up for the Wii. Given the high demand of online connectivity for games these days, it would be suicide for Nintendo to completely ignore the market. However, it seems they're still configuring a lot of this stuff, considering the weather and news channels are not yet up.

I wish there were a time table for a lot of their games, but so far there seems to be nothing.

I've read that so far Nintendo isn't planning on altering any games.

Yeah, that's what I heard too.

Also, my Wii arrived today, damn I'm regretting having it sent to my home address rather than my uni one Oh well at least there's still a chance of my assignments getting done before the holidays.

    It's here!

Unfortunately I cannot go pick it up until tomorrow because taking £159 to my educational facility isn't the wisest of moves.

    I don't wanna wait though :(

So I bought my first Virtual Console title today. I couldn't resist the siren call of Ecco the Dolphin anymore! Let me just say, if the Sega Genesis game you're playing uses the (Genesis) A button extensively, do not use the Wii Remote. They mapped it to the Wii's A button, which is on the left side of the controller, meaning you have to use your left thumb. Since this requires you to lift your left thumb off the D-pad, you have to pretty much stop moving every time Ecco needs to pull off his echolocation move. On the Genesis, this was a fluid motion that kept the game running smoothly, but on the Wii Remote it's awkward and more than once cost me some precious health points (essential in those sometimes-far-from-air Undercaves and Vents). I'll try out the Wavebird tomorrow and see if that plays any better.

If you buy Sonic the Hedgehog, you probably won't notice any problem, since (Genesis) A, B and C all did the same thing. So my issue really will only manifest itself on games that map each of those three buttons to different moves.

The GameCube or Classic Controllers should provide a much better Ecco experience.

I gots me wii plugged in. It's updating as we speak.

Anyone else find that it takes a really long time for it to download?
  • edited December 2006
Mine only took like a minute, so maybe it's your internet connection?
  • edited December 2006
It's probably because many people are still downloading it here.

I found that apparently the 'B' trigger is used for a turbo 'B'

Yeah, it's hella slow. Just like the shop channel. You get used to it, though.

You mean for the TG16 games? Yeah, it does that. Keeps messing me up in Bonk's Adventure when I don't know I'm pressing the button and he keeps spin jumping on me.

Also, greedy powerpoint clicker company is suing Nintendo for the Wiimote's B-trigger, claiming that they seek to be compensated for reduced sales and lost profits from their products because of the Wii remote. Yep. I know for sure that if Nintendo hadn't come out with the Wii, I would have bought me a totally awesome power point clicker thing instead.

My biology teacher uses a powerpoint clicker like that It has a laser, so we nicked it once and shot lasers across the room.

Good lord, does anyone elses elbow hurt after playing wii boxing?
  • edited December 2006
Nah, but it gets to me if I play Call of Duty 3 for a while.

My shoulder hurt after playing bowling. But only after the first day.

Nintendo is so nice, they'll send you a free stronger strap even though there's nothing wrong with the old ones:

If the Wii was a Microsoft console, then you'd be secrewed and have to upgrade to a newer version.

The forcast channel is now live! Everyone update your Wii so you can have fun spinning the globe! You can even look up the weather at the South Pole. :p

Although I am disappointed that it doesn't show the current temperature on the Forecast Channel icon at the Wii menu as Nintendo implied that it would.
  • edited December 2006
True, but you only have to click on the channel and it shows the temperature without having to wait for a load time at all.
  • edited December 2006
Now if only the Shop Channel worked like that. ;)
  • edited December 2006
I too was under the impression that the icon would have the current temp. I was a bit disappointed.

But, I am quite happy that one of those two dud channels are finally working. Now to get the news working, and all my icons will do something!

I downloaded Military Madness! If you like Advance Wars, and you want to see what may have inspired it, you might want to give it a purchase.
  • edited December 2006
I'm pretty sure Famicom Wars was the inspiration for Advance Wars. Still, turn-based strategy military games for the win!

I do not like Advance Wars and have no interest in seeing what my have inspired it. But if I did, I would surely take your advice.

I'm also glad I'm not the only one who thought we'd be able to see the temp on the Channel icon. I was wondering if maybe I read it wrong. And if anyone's interested, it's a nice 3 degrees (F) at the South Pole today. :p

Did you hear? Games like Pokemon Revolution generate their own friend code, just like DS WiFi games. How incredibly inconvenient!

Oh, you think it's inconvenient? YOU MUST BE A PREDATOR THEN!

Oh, whoops, sorry, I had my 'Nintendo reasoning' hat on.

Do no one else have Aminal Crossing for the DS? I need some foreign fruit imports to bolster my local economy!

For seriously, oranges just aren't cutting it. Nook won't pay crap for something he can just walk outside his store and find hanging from the trees everywhere. I got an apple in a letter from my "mom", but I've only gotten one harvest and the regrowing/replanting process is dragging. I accidentally ate one too, it was delicious.

I need more seed fruits! I need more variety! I need more Capitalism!
