This past weekend I went to my boyfriend's college to help him pick up his pottery wheel and move it to his parents house so he could throw during the summer, and actually managed to help problem solve and disassemble and do things I would normally think of as "guy things." I mean, I left the cutting metal with an acetylcholine torch part to him, but I was the one who suggested going for it! That counts right?

And after we got back into town yesterday evening, we were gonna paint it with rustoleum and decided it would look much cooler with CHROME paint! So now he has an awesome wheel that I'm going to learn how to throw on. Sweet!

Oh, I also got my driver's license today, not so much success since I turn 18 in less than 2 weeks and I feel pretty much like a loser for getting it so late, but I guess that could count too.

What I REALLY want is my AP test scores so that I can post that I passed some hard tests, but every year they decide to send the scores to my house about a week later than everyone else. :( I'm really tempted to pay the outrageous $8 fee to just call and ask them what my scores were instead of waiting another week, since a bunch of my classmates know theirs already. Blargh!!

Hah, I succeeded in passing English this year with a 59. Hold the applause guys. :]
  • edited July 2008
passing? Where do you live where a 59 is still passing?

I know Australia counts 50 as passing, but I don't know how common that is.
  • edited July 2008
a 58 is passing here, in CT at least

I was Honors English 10, I somehow managed to be JUST lazy enough
  • edited July 2008
Wow, crazy. 70 is the lowest passing grade you can make here.
  • edited July 2008
    Really? Wow.

Oh and they selected me for AP English next year, which, given the current circumstances, is a SUCCESS in itself :]

It seems that anything under 60 is failing here, I don't really know though, I've never come close to failing a class. (Oooh???)

lol, in fact, Dallas ISD doesn't put any grade lower than a 50 onto the report card. Getting a 50 pretty much tells everyone that you haven't done ANYTHING at ALL in that class, since a 50 could also be a grade as low as a 20 or something... epic fail. People got 50s a lot at my school.

I think I once got a 59 in Calculus for one of the grading periods... ugh that was a horrible semester, even though I ended up pulling off a 71 for the semester average. And now I'm wanting to go into math! Following this trend, I predict Panda will be another literature major amongst the forumites.

It's a siren's song, I'm telling you. You can't help but be drawn in by the horrible job prospects and condescension of others.
  • edited July 2008
Which is why my degree is going to be in Politics! Now you get poor job prospects, condescension by others and militant socialist tendencies!

Business is still a good major! You learn great skills, like how to use the knife you stuck in your friend's back simultaneously as a stepping stone up the corporate ladder! Sure, I sometimes feel a little guilty when I think about all the people I'm stepping on in my path to success, but then when I go to bed in my mattress made of money, all the guilt goes away!

Where the hell in CT do you live? Because I've lived in CT for the better part of my grade-high school career, and it's always been a minimum of 60, unless you had nice teachers who would bump your grade up.

My brother is gone for two weeks.
    MUHAHAHAHA
But if he follows his teacher’s recommendation he will be....

    A scientist/mathematician/doctor. WOOOOOOOOO!
But strangely enough, my English teacher told me multiple times, in front of the whole class, to become a writer because I was the most bla, bla, bla.

I can’t tell you what she said next because I was trying to hide under my desk. Man I hate her....
I will resist the siren call for English majors! Who’s with me?

I used the power of the justice system to kick my damn near ex-stepdad out of the house after years of him terrorizing us. Success?

Were at a state Tech School, so I'm guessing the state has pretty low expectations for us.

What has come of our beautiful Connecticut!? We've already lost our moniker as the richest state, and what do we have left? Nutmeg and the constitution? Brb, moving back to Asheville NC. At least that's the most gay friendly city in the US. Right?

If Chris was not in Japan I would say goodbye... That *******... Anyways as I said before I'm going to attempt an art major, I enjoy it and am apparently good. I'll make a deviantart account or something soon and upload some stuff.

You do know he's a CIT at camp right now, and he doesn’t leave for Japan for a while now right?

Law is still a good major, also! You learn all about how to stick it to the little guy while making obscene amounts of money at the same time! The best part is getting to know all about some legal institution that protects people's rights, so that you can know exactly how to get pass it when you need to!

The best thing about careers in business or law is that if you're successful enough, you can use your authority and money to buy a trophy wife or two. Some people say they only love you for the money, but if they're willing to sleep with me, I honestly don't understand the difference.

    Nice

oh come now, going through two marriages isn't exactly a rare occurrence these days. Now two wives at the same time, I guess he'd have to live in Utah for that to really work, at least if he's planning on doing this in the states.

But by then he'd own the states.

The C.E.O. of a company (Mellaluca) here in Idaho Falls has one wife but has several ex-wives living in the same enormous house. Thats one way to get by the law.
  • edited July 2008
so the newest wife gets all the tax breaks, huh? I wonder if he claims them as dependents.
  • edited July 2008
It doesn’t matter either way, I bet he pays for everything.

Probably, it's a pretty damn big company. The guy pays for our yearly fireworks show without any hesitation, I can't remember a year when it was canceled or anything, and believe me, they're big fireworks.
