I got a 2.2 but I don't care! It's a passing grade.
Now I just gotta pass French 115.
I also just added into the last class I need to finish my English degree, it's been full up for the last four months and apparently a few people dropped it in the last day. Now I don't have to deal with the registar's office when the Fall semester starts.
This post should actually be in the "Success? Thread" but here it is.
I taught my first class ever today.
For those of you who don't know, I've just embarked on a Master's program in English Literature, and in order to pay for it I've been given a graduate assistantship. I teach a freshman writing course, Thought and Writing.
It went... okay. I was super nervous and since we didn't really have anything to do other than go through the syllabus, I felt a little stretched. I was sweating and everything... but now I feel better. Also, some of my students took my advice and gave me constructive criticism afterward, and stayed and talked for a while. It made me feel more confident.
My next class is on Thursday. That class should be better, since they actually have readings to do and we have stuff to talk about. But we'll see. It's difficult to have 20 eyes on you constantly.
In celebration of China's National Day, when China became the People's Republic of China, I have purchased a plane ticket to Osaka! We have a one week vacation.
I get to go to Curry House! And you better believe I'm getting the curry at Lev. 10 spicy. And I get Asahi beer. And I'm going to have some okonomiyaki, Okaasan-style. And there's Den Den Town, and Yodobashi Camera!
Aw, cute! I got my boyfriend a pocket watch for his graduation present a while back, and got it engraved and thought it was all cute! But I figured that he wouldn't use it since it was cheesy. But he does! And I'm like "Aww I made it too cheesy how embarrassing for me" but he still uses it anyway.
Back in high school a few friends and I started a Pocketwatch Gang. We went out to Wal Mart and bought the stupidest possible pocketwatches and used them around school. I had a big ass semi truck on mine, and another friend of mine had #1 Dad.
We used them for a whole year or so before we lost them.
One other guy we recruited into our gang had a gold pocketwatch his grandfather no longer used. It had a big, stylized "G" on the cover, and it had to be wound every day. It was pimp.
Just think about it... It's the middle of the day, I'm running some errands in my dark gray suit (which I have to wear around these days because of exams), when someone asks me,
"Pray tell, young man, do you have the time?"
"Why," I answer "Yes I do."
Then I take out one silver pocket watch from my suit's inside left pocket, and tell the time. The man is awestruck by the sheer elegance of my time-telling device. His world will never be the same.
People line up outside my dorm room so I can change their lives. It's like having a miracle on a little chain inside my pocket. And for a funnier wording, it's like having a miracle in my pants.
Don't know if I was doing it right at first, because everyone else seemed to have a much better experience than I did. I mean, I didn't have a BAD time, it just... wasn't as good as they made it out to me. I'm thinking it won't be my only experience, even if my second one may come in a WHILE. Hopefully next time I can get it right from the beginning and have the fun times. If there isn't any other time, thats okay too!
Also for the success thread, I've found a friend here that already fits in so well with my best friends in Dallas. He's into role-playing (which I'm already a part of), he plays lots of video games, and he likes having philosophical conversations while NOT drunk! And he led to my first time getting high! Woohoo!

Maybe it's like meth. It stays in your system for weeks, then suddenly, you can't help but go on ONE little raid...

That happens to me
