    Got an update for y'all...

So it's been 6 days since i was at the station and i just got a call from the program director...

I guess i must have impressed the SHIT outta him and everyone up there because i am now the official Production fill-in for i105-107 in Athlone Ireland!!!

Don't have an official date as to when i'm going to do my first paid day but when the production engineer next needs a day off i will be the person they will be calling! (i know it doesn't sound like much but in these times with things the way they are this is a BIIIG stepping stone for me)

I would have to say that spending a week and close to 500 euros to work there for free paid off in a very big SUCCESS for me!!!

Yesteday I traveled to Quito and at 10 am was already waiting in line with some friends (who were waiting since 7) to see IRON MAIDEN. I ended up with my arms and face sunburnt, completely and utterly exhausted and with a lot of muscular pain in my legs and neck but it was well worth it. Lauren Harris, daughter of the band's bassist and leader Steve Harris openedat 8 pm and that was cool. But at 9:20 the real show started.. it was so freaking intense I cannot believe it. It was the first time they ever played in this country, so everyone was super excited and I was lucky enough to be standing just 20 meters away from the stage, and since I'm kinda tall I could see them perfectly. It was one of the very best nights of my life, seriously. If this is not AWESOME SUCCESS I don't know what is.

That is indeed awesome! Way better than Agentcel. You seriously got to see the only Iron Maiden show ever to be held in your country? That fucking rocks, man!
  • edited March 2009
That is indeed in the top tier of awesome success. Way to be awesome!

It was incredible. The only bummer was that they didn't play Can I Play with Madness and Heaven Can Wait, two of my all time favorites. Actually, they played the exact same songs that appear on the 2009 setlist on the wikipedia page about the Somewhere Back in Time World Tour, only in a different order. That, and that when the concert started I was only 10 meters away from the stage but the people went INSANE when Aces High (the first song) started and I almost suffocated so I had to go a bit to the back, and couldn't get back in front because I had to look out for my younger brother who went with me and who had already had an altercation with a drunkard some minutes ago.

But it was still GREAT. I went completely nuts when the giant Eddie from Somewhere in Time began walking across the stage during Iron Maiden. \m/

Success! My roommate and I finally pinpointed where the awful smell in our apartment was coming from. Our other roommate had bought some cheese bratwurst a few... weeks ago and after having like two, left the rest of them loosely wrapped in the back of the fridge.

It has been taken care of. He will be similarly treated when he gets home.

Loosely wrapped and put in the back of the fridge?

Seems to be a numerous amount of successes around these days...

Time to report on ANOTHER SUCCESS from good ol' Conor...

Surely you all remember 2 weeks ago i worked a free week at a radio station to try and further my carreer... And you all recall that they offered me a very part time position as their fill-in production guy.

Well i got a call today during the Ireland vs Scotland match from the Program Director of their (older) sister station i102-104 in Galway...

They have a competition starting on Friday that requires 2 couples to go into a see through box for a week each and perform "Indecent Proposals" for points and the winner gets something like 30 grand. Check It Out Here

Well they need someone to take over the audio production of this event (going through the 24/7 audio and picking out the best bits for air/promos and whatnot). And i guess since i did such a kick-ass job while i was up at the other station the PD passed on my number when asked if he had anyone for the job!

So I'm going up there on Monday to talk with him about this 2 week gig that i'm hoping could turn out to be an even longer engagement!

I guess i shall call this a SUCCESS for Conor!!!

And again, I'll keep all ya posted!!!

    That fucking rocks.

I just got back from my date, gentlemen.

So, to begin with, I was 5 minutes away from the mall, and she texts me that she's already there. Which was kind of odd, because I was early, but she was even earlier. So, I wasn't at fault.

When I went through the doors, she was standin' right there, but didn't look pissed. She was happy to see me. She told me that she had some money, that her dad gave her, to buy her ticket. I said no way, and that she could put the money to better use! So when we got up to the counter, I swiftly asked for two tickets to Taken, smiled, and proceeded to the food part.

Now here, she could've nailed me, asking for popcorn, soda, candy, anything! I asked if she was hungry, and she said she wasn't at all. My wallet was like :D. We entered the theatre and sat down in the third row. It was pretty empty, considering it's been out since January. We talked a little, and there was a kind of awkward silence at first, but then we got talking pretty well.

During the movie, I piped in a few times, but not too much to annoy her, and she commented a few times. I think she leaned towards me for a good portion of the film.

Afterwards, she said she had a really good time, and that her mom was waiting in the car. So she said she'd see me Monday and headed out. She did look into my eyes for a bit, but I think she knew that if we kissed the first time here that It'd be to soon. So I was glad. She texted me on the way home to make sure I knew that she had a good time, so she obviously did.

I really like her, and I think this might be the start of something very nice.

    tl;dr: my date went well.

    I, sir, applaud you.

First dates are usually awkward but it seems yours went well.
    Definite SUCCESS!

I just got done with my first date with my girlfriend, too. I'd say it went extremely well. According to her, I'm very good at making out.

    Lots of successes lately!

I have my own to contribute... in the beginning of April, I'm going to be giving a paper at a conference at UC Riverside! This is great not only because I'll be able to get feedback on my work but also because it helps me build my CV. Success!

I'm not sure if this is an awesome success by your standards, but I have recently obtained a second monitor for secondary monitor success.
  • edited March 2009
I go dual monitor at work. At any given time I probably have about a dozen things open and Flash by itself could fully consume 4 monitors if I allowed it to. I need shedloads of monitor space at work.

At home? I went dual for a while and got tired of it and switched back to single monitor. It doesn't work nice with CRT monitors.
