Well hopefully some people pick the game up soon. I'd like to try out multiplayer with some people here.

Edit: I am god awful at multiplayer. Holy crap I got my ass handed to me. I need people I know to play with.

I just got Dragon Age: Origin.

    omg.

You didn't get the "s" with yours? That sucks.

I, personally, find that effecting things massively twice is a valuable and entertaining use of my time.

So Dragon Age is pretty interesting so far. The game starts off with about 6 different possible starting points, though by the time you reach the second chapter, the overall arc of the story will continue as the same no matter what your class and race.

Graphically, it's quite pretty, and extremely bloody. The battle system is pretty fun; it definitely requires a lot of strategy and thinking. Character AIs are similar to FFX, though there are a few differences.

My only real complaint about the game is that it's painfully linear. There is no way to deviate from the story at all. And you can't really grind your levels either. Enemies don't respawn, so what you killed stays dead.

That aside, it's still quite fun. I think I've got quite a bit more gameplay to go, and I can always play through as the other classes too, to see how those feel.

Sounds like typical BioWare. That's what KotOR was like too. And, you know, you can't blame them, I think, for having a linear story. Can you imagine how much dialogue they'd have to write and store to be able to allow for wildly branching story paths?

I finally got around to beating Metal Gear Solid 4, which, If you have the console to play it and the cash to pick it up and you haven't, Shame on you!

But recently I picked up a title again that I had downloaded and never gotten into, Echochrome. With an innovative 'perspective' style of puzzles, as well and user generated content, there's enough game here to keep me hooked for the next...year? Check it out if you get the chance.

WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT IT!!!

I will if you, like me, decided to waste like 10 hours of my life watching all the cutscenes...It was like a history lesson half the time but they were so goddamn pretty!

Remember when Raiden and Vamp had their fight on top of Rex mimicking the final battle from the first game?

I've been playing the Just Cause 2 demo. It's the most kickass game I've EVER played.
  • edited March 2010
Double post: Just Cause 2 came out today. FYI, it's amazing.

So it seems my old guild on wow has fallen apart, and there's like nobody there anymore. Right now I'm in the process of installing wow with Lich King (China's still on Burning Crusade), and working some h4ck5 so I can play on Taiwan servers. They are on the same patch of Lich King as US servers.

Red Dead Redemption is probably the best game I've ever played. The caliber of these titles sure is skyrocketing. Damn!
  • edited May 2010
Yeah, the Classics were AWESOME, and then for some reason everything seemed to be total crap. But now EVERYTHING is getting awesome again: Movies, Games, you name it.

It's an extremely well made game. Even if the gameplay sucked, the story is good enough to keep everything going. Luckily the gameplay is the best that Rockstar's ever done.

I WOULD be playing Mario Galaxy 2 if my sensor bar wasn't busted.

I would be playing Mario Galaxy 2 if I wasn't poor as hell.

Little World of Warcraft, mixed in with some Half Life 2, and considering getting my computer up to gaming speed/buying a ps3. Whichever is cheaper...

Serephel, just out of blunt curiosity, what server are you on?
    Edit:
Yeah. Just caught you were in China. How's that work? Do the people you play with speak Chinese, or are you on an American server?
  • edited June 2010
I play on 雷鱗 (lei lin) on a server in Taiwan. Translated as Lightning Scale? I'm not sure what you call it back in the states.

I downloaded Mass Effect yesterday for $5, and I'm about to get Dragon Age: Origins Digital Deluxe Edition and the expansion for $54. Steam sales are the best way to get games and the worst way to save money. Tomorrow I'll actually have a chance to play something.
  • edited June 2010
Lightninghoof? Yeah, that sounds like it could work.
But it's an American server that you play on in Taiwan? That's interesting. Is it like that with all of the servers then? Or are there special Taiwan servers?
  • edited June 2010
It's a Taiwan server, for Chinese people. I live in China, though I am American. I have a Chinese copy of the game, jerry rigged to play (give quests in, show abilities in) in English. I'll post a screenshot later, it's actually kinda cool how effortlessly you can actually play in different languages. Though you do need to know Chinese in order to communicate with other players, or at least be able to read enough to take directions.
  • edited June 2010
Oh, gotcha. That's pretty cool then. Is there no way to get on American servers over there? Or do you prefer the Taiwan server?
  • edited June 2010
For one, latency issues. It's pretty hard to secure a VPN or proxy fast enough and reliable enough to allow me to not lag on a 25 man raid when I am half a world away. You can forget about ever doing Wintergrasp.

Plus, coordinating raids would be a pain in the ass while half a world away. My day is your night and vice versa. Said latency issues would mean I'd only be able to raid if they did it at off times in the US.

Mostly, I like the Chinese practice I get, so I play here instead.
  • edited June 2010
Didn't even think about timezones. I've never had a great understanding as to how each server works, so latency:location is lost on me.

Assuming you've played on an American server, do you think the Chinese are better or worse at the game?
  • edited June 2010
Are you kidding? This is Asia. Every year we have kids who fucking die playing computer games because they forget that their earthly bodies need things like food and water. PC games reign supreme here (excepting Japan, which is console gamer heaven). You can safely assume that the best wow players here are fierce rivals of their American counterparts.
  • edited June 2010
Well, I've heard stories. Like that one kid who was hacking some game at a computer cafe or something, so some other guy playing the game decided to do a little "hacking" of his own... Always assumed them to be rumors, not familiar with that part of the world. Guess that means patch day on a Chinese server is insane...

Anywho, I'm camping all of next week, so I'm off to bed. Instead of good night, good morning since you're in China? Peace
  • edited June 2010
Good afternoon, rather. 12:40pm here, convert to your own time as necessary.
  • edited June 2010
So, around a 14 hour time difference. Yeah, I can see how playing with anyone from America would be a pain.
If it's not too personal or anything, why'd you move to China? Or did you grow up there?

Edit: First post on the fourth page. I feel accomplished.
