Yeah, I found that out the hard way.... But i've only been experimenting with photoshop for 2 weeks. and I didn't have a good tutorial, so I had to figure out a lot myself. But once you get the whole layer thing, it makes things easier. Ecspecially if you like to use the "Magic Eraser" which basically erases everything of a certain color, so if you have that annoying black background with your sprites, you can get rid of it without the tedium of erasing like it's open heart surgery. Only thing i need now is a good sized word bubble format, since my mouse isn't all that efficient.

*Sniffle* It's so true! I hate mjc less already! Sort of! Okay, not really.

First you hate Night Lord, now you hate Mjc! What's the matter with you?

Oh, and Mario, Mjc tried to help Spyro, but he didn't care. Check out page 6.

Well, he makes his comics in paint, thus it isn't difficult, in the save dialogue, in the drop down menu, choose png as your format.

Here, have a picture (Note: This is of paintshop pro, however, paints is exactly the same, just with less choices)

Welcome to the forum and such, but did you register only to back up mjc?

I don't hate Night Lord anymore, and I was only joking.

Thanks and such, and I did not register only to back up Mjc. I think that would be pretty stupid.

I concur on this point. It's just that your only forum participation prior to this thread was a small post in the Introductory Thread, almost as if you were fulfilling some bare minimum to start posting. It looked like fairly bad form to me. But since you say that was not the case, forget I ever brought it up.

Spyro not caring does not give mjc free reign to berate him. Using a JPG isn't a crime against humanity.

But for sprite comics it is pretty stupid though... Especially poor quality jpegs.

I avoid png because every time I save something as png I can't use it or delete it. It just says "Access Denied".

Then you have deep-rooted PC problems, and I'd recommend you take it to a specialist to get it fixed.
  • edited July 2006
Here's a new comic! Yay! I will not see a specialist!

I'm likin' the logo. Though I'm confused as to which direction Mario and Luigi ran. They're not seen behind the characters, so it would seem that they ran TOWARDS the bad guy.
  • edited July 2006
They ran to Wink, but they were so fast they could not be seen. I'll fix that.

PS: I got the logo from the Majora sprite sheet. The guy said no credit needed.

Seriously, dude, evenly space your text in your dialogue bubbles. It looks half assed if you don't. Don't bother asking for pointers if you won't even fix something that takes an extra thirty seconds.
  • edited July 2006
This last one looks close enough, except for that one panel. Not worth complaining about this time around, methinks.

If I could do the layers thing like on photoshop, it would look better.
  • edited July 2006
Well we already know that's no excuse, since I linked you The GIMP, which has the same layer feature as Photoshop, and you seem to have made a conscious decision not to use it. No one's advice is going to be any good to you if you don't heed it.

No use helping those who won't listen. Eh anyways, commenting..yeah.

It's not great, but then again, it's not bad, So I can't say much, Except I agree with Serephel He/She (sorry) is right. If you put more effort into it you could get a more enthusiastic reply from the readers. Do like Mario, i'm a fan because he does quality stuff. As I said with some time and effort you could gain a small following....maybe.

    Add on-

What would you guys say is better, Paintshop 7 or The GIMP, or are there any other good programs?
  • edited July 2006
GIMP is like a more complicated Photoshop, right?
  • edited July 2006
GIMP is a free slightly more confusing and not as powerful Photoshop.

sorry dude, I didn't want to offend so I left it up to you to make the decision. I didn't feel like being observant, I just finished my second straight night without sleep, it's like 5 AM now.
And I guess i'll stick with photoshop, I picked it up rather easily, at least the basics that is. I' just picked up a guide and online tutorial with step by step video thing so I can grasp some of the more complicated things that i'm currently lost on. I suggest you do the same spyro, it could benefit you.

PS. Photoshop made me feel awesome, it was so much easier to use and better than previous applications I used, those applications being paint and other things my friends doodled around with.
  • edited July 2006
Photoshop is better in that it has more features, however it costs a bomb.
  • edited July 2006
It's hard to argue with The GIMP's cost of $0.

*shrug* I can't speak for such things, so I have to go by Photoshop's retail price as a point against it compared to The GIMP.
  • edited July 2006
I have a product key for Photoshop 7, however, I don't have Photoshop 7. So I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. Some guy gave me the key because he moved up to the newer version without ever installing this one.
