Just out of curiosity, how many hours did you have logged when you got to the Elite Four, agentcel?
  • edited April 2007
Well, I usually play these game by blasting through the gyms first, and then doing the sidequests and whatnot.

And...lesee....17:36 is my play time. Whew.
  • edited April 2007
HAHAHA, wow. Definitely a speed run. I'm being a pokey old grandpa compared to you... I've got a bit more than 10 hours logged and I have one badge.
  • edited April 2007
I've got 17 hours and I'm hanging out in the third (fighting) gym right now.

Ok, before I go out and buy this new game, I must ask, are the L and R triggers a necessity? I need to know, because the game sounds awesome, and my L and R triggers are broken.
  • edited April 2007
I haven't tried to use L or R once, so I'm guessing they're not strictly necessary. In Ruby/Sapphire/FireRed/LeafGreen/Emerald, they could be used in place of A and B, so maybe it's a similar situation in this game?

Well, if you name your Buneary "Peppy", he'll ask you to press z, or r twice to do a barrel roll. When you point out that there is no Z button, he battles you.

That image brings so much joy to my heart.

I don't usually use overused internet phrases, but: LMFAO.

Could someone make an avatar out of that for me? Please?
  • edited April 2007
Yeah, mario basically described how L and R work, if I'm not mistaken. I haven't had to use the two at all.

Sweet, time to steal this game from someone.

It may be a bit hefty at 104 KB, but I think it works.

Thanks, but it won't move for me. How come?

    Hell if I know!

Three badges, baby! That Lucario was much higher-leveled than I was prepared for, but I persevered! ... after blacking out. But just once!
  • edited April 2007
Why did everyone I talked to have trouble with the Lucario? I don't recall having any difficulty there.
  • edited April 2007
Because he was at level 30, where the rest of my team was peaking at 27. I have a bad habit of using my lowest-level Pokémon in battle in order to keep the leveling-up balanced throughout the party, even if they aren't well-suited to the battle. After the blackout, I went into the wild and bumped everyone up to 28, and crazily enough, it made all the difference.

Also, he had all sorts of different types of attacks that made him formidable against a large amount of my team. And what's his secondary type? Steel? Because a lot of my attacks were either "not very effective" or provided normal damage, when they ought to have been "super effective" (such as Flying-type moves).

I had trouble against him too at first, because I was unprepared for fighting anything steel element (was cleaning up with Staravia beforehand). So, I went back, grabbed my Ponyta, and Fire Blast'ed him away.

His drain punch was annoying, though. It seemed to heal a lot of HP.

Oh man, that's beautiful. I ought to start offering up some of my nicknamed Pokés.

The fourth gym, by the way, was way easier than the third.

Hey, my cousin teaches Japanese kids Eglish, so I know their favorite word!

    *drumroll*

    HELMET!

    I don't know why either.

EDIT: I beat the Elite Four in probably the most awesome Championship battle "EVAR". Let's just say it involved an Abomasnow lv.40 at 10HP, and a shitload of revives and full restores.

This is a great game...I'm not done, either! Now I need the National Pokedex, and I've gotta explore that other island.

Famitsu advertised the international capabilities of the Global Trade System in one of its recent articles covering the US release.

It even advertises how Japanese players can see their pokemon with English information.

Apparently there's an image limit imposed on us by the MAN (mario). So, I'm double posting.

Have you ever tried using mail? It sucks cause you have to select words from the list, right? Well, there's a reason for that. It's so you can communicate with friends from across the globe.

There are a few more pictures and stuff at the site here. It's pretty cool.

How do you get to all this online functionality? I haven't found it yet.
  • edited April 2007
By the way, after your National Dex is obtained, you can read pokedex entires in other languages!

I'm so jealous of you guys... I want pokemon. I haven't played since the original red version, where I got all 151 pokemon! So, do you think I'd like this new version or I'd just feel lost in a new, different world?
  • edited May 2007
You'd catch on pretty quickly. Plus, you know, online trading and battling with friends on The Orange Belt.
