Go get it, it's great fun. If you liked Red they basically took what was great about Red and just fixed things and added a lot of fun extras. And there's a lot of pokemon from the original plus a bunch of new ones.

I've got to buy it! I've got to buy it! (chin)Poooookoooomaaawwwwnnn!

And there's a lot of pokemon from the original

Wait, so not ALL of the ones from the old game? Why not?
  • edited May 2007
Because from the beginning, the Pokémon series has necessitated that you trade with other-colored cartridges to "catch 'em all". Fire Red and Leaf Green have all of the original 151 set, and those games can connect to Diamond and Pearl via the DS' GBA slot for Poké-transfer (though not trading, and I believe you can't send them back again).

I read online somewhere that you can put your own weight and height into the pokedex for comparison. I haven't found how to do that yet.

So I guess even if I found my old pokemon cartridge there's no way I could transfer my Mewtwo and Charizard and Snorlax and and Gyarados and and Mew and and I don't know what else to the DS... That sucks.

That means you get to CATCH 'EM ALL!

    ...AGAIN!!!

Besides, they did bring back Mr. Mime into Diamond and Pearl. Does any other Pokemon really matter?
  • edited May 2007
In hindsight, they really made a mistake giving that Pokémon the name "Mr. Mime" in the US, since there are both male and female versions of the species.

I forgot I had this picture...

Make sure you aim that ball right, so the button hits the pokemon!

Ah hell... How much time would it take me to get 439 pokemon from scratch? Probably about six months assuming I don't make that game the central part of my life. Stupid pokemons.
  • edited May 2007
You can't do it from scratch! Not all Pokémon can be obtained in one copy of the game, so trading is absolutely imperative.

By the way, I saw an Oddish the other day, so you can jump for joy now, mario.

    I just did!

Oh, I knew that. I thought he meant that several of the originals are absent from both versions of the game.

If I were to get Diamond and my brother Pearl, would we be able to get every pokemon ever? Or would we still need some older versions?
  • edited May 2007
    You'd still need older versions.
  • edited May 2007
Stupid older versions... Well I guess I can still try. So I guess that it's only a matter of time until Pokémon No. 666 is created. What do you think it'll be?

    Robo-Satan?

Wait...I believe that it is possible to get get every pokemon on Diamond except for the starters and legendaries. Seriously. Also, you can trade if you have Wi-fi in order to obtain some of them.

I traded my Dialga for a level 1 Eevee! Stupid? Yeah. Regrets? Nope! I've now got enough eevees to have all the evolutions. All I need now is a fire stone, and I'm set! I've got so far: Umreon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Leafeon, and Glaceon. I still need an Espeon and a Flareon.

Did you not already have an Eevee? You could have bred it with Ditto (or another compatible Pokémon if it were a female) to get more Eevees and satisfy your need for Eeveelutions. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
  • edited May 2007
Problem was, it was a male, and I tired turning off the game a couple of times. The Eevee's gender you receive from Bebe is preset. So, no luck there.
  • edited May 2007
I know, but you can breed male Pokémon with Ditto, and the offspring will be the non-Ditto Pokémon. Presumably, Ditto transforms into the opposite gender of the species in order to, uh, do the deed.
  • edited May 2007
I was trying to find breeding info about this, and I went to serebii.net. You know how google ads usually have some relation to whatever site they're on?

    Well...

The earlier gen pokemon that aren't in the initial pokedex start showing up in the wild once you get the national dex, or so I read in a faq.

Oh great! I want a Snorlax!

DS Fanboy hosts a Game Night every Thursday, and it's probably going to be all-Pokemans for a while, so if you're looking for people to trade and battle, come by.

Anyone abusing the Global Trade Station?

Last night, I managed to trade my Torterra for a Dialga (I already have one). Then, I left a female lev. 1 Eevee up for trade overnight, and I got a Palkia. I have two Dialgas and one Palkia now. It's quite awesome.

Edit: Although, the Palkia was caught with a Master Ball and has been taught Strength and Surf, so I guess I got what I paid for.
