Ah, I see now. I didn't realize Pokémon Farm was one o' them fancy new Wii Ware games. I thought it was just a new channel to sit alongside Everybody Voting and weather-checking and such.
First off are various "Mega" forms of various Pokémon, specifically MegaBlaziken, MegaAbsol, MegaMawile, MegaMewtwo, MegaLucario and MegaAmpharos. They're all called "Mega".
...
They "evolve" through a process called "Mega Evolution"
Somehow, I've suddenly become much less excited for these games.
Oh come on, if you're just playing for the story, pokemon is always fun and totally nostalgic. I've just decided to take these new features in stride and see what sort of things Nintendo decides to add to the game. The more little nuances when playing through the story, the better, in my mind.
It remains to be seen how much further these additions are going to screw with the competitive metagame though. So happy I'm not a part of that scene any longer.
If I don't like what's going on in the new games, I'll probably do what I always do and import a bunch of Generation I pokemon instead. Old pokemon, new features. It's perfect!
After actually seeing a trailer for the game, the "Mega Evolutions" apparently are an in battle only thing? So I assume they're more like some of the pokemon with multiple forms, and not just higher evolutions which they've arbitrarily decided need a different name.
The moral of this story is I should actually read about what a thing is before I assume it's terrible, as this is significantly less stupid than I thought it was at first.
Seriously though. It never was a show with a bad premise, just somewhat terrible execution. If it's anything like the games (And it certainly does look like them) it'll be awesome.
That does look pretty badass. I was really into the show when it first came out, when Pokemon was this giant exciting new thing... I may have to try to find these episodes once they come out.
I also got a big kick out of the narrator's announcer voice.
I picked up the first 2 seasons of Digimon (before I saw it was on Netflix), and as far as story goes, it's just light years ahead of Pokemon. At least until the 2nd half of season 2. Things go a bit off the rails, then.
But yeah, I might actually pick up a Pokemon game again for once. I haven't bought one since Ruby came out.
I'm currently looking for a buneary or lopunny for my Pokemon X team (I haven't opened a Pokemon Bank account yet so I can't just import one). Anybody got one lying around?
At what point in the game does one gain access to the friend safari? Is it another one of those stupid things they do where they don't give you the cool features until you've already beaten the game?
FYI, they're giving away pokemon over the online Mystery Gift for the next couple weeks. Owners of Pokemon X get a Heracross and owners of Pokemon Y get a Pinsir.
And starting August 18th, you can go to Gamestop and pick up a flyer containing a serial code to unlock a mega stone for them (while supplies last).
Speaking of mega stones, I was never quite sold on the whole "Mega Pokemon" thing... until they leaked images of Mega Slowbro:

Also a somewhat out-of-place-looking rabbit, and the requisite pika-clone. I dunno guys, this is startin' to get weird.
Whoops, they mega-evolved the wrong pokemon.

New Pokemon anime goes old school. And no Ashes or Pikachus in sight!

Edit: Season 3 of Digimon is totally on Netflix now.

You probably already knew that.
But you can transfer characters to Pokémon Bank and to the next games in the series, Pokémon Sun and Moon!
You probably already knew that too.
